Thats a Saturday. so go ahead and plan that weekend off, you might need sunday to recover.http://www.allaboutbeer.com/wbfraleigh/Tickets arent on sale yet, but if i remember correctly, they go on sale a month or so in advance. so this is enough time to get some money lined up so we dont see any more beer fest wanted to buy ticket threads.

2/19/2008 1:13:26 PM

2/19/2008 1:18:58 PM

2/19/2008 1:27:37 PM
last year was totally kickass
2/19/2008 1:35:26 PM
2/19/2008 1:41:10 PM
Some do. Just make sure if there's anything you really want to try you get it early.
2/19/2008 1:43:16 PM
i'm going to make one of those trendy pretzel necklaces.
2/19/2008 1:45:24 PM
^^ cool
2/19/2008 1:51:37 PM
AND it's the same day as the glorious Triangle Beach Music Festival... it is going to be a GOOOOD weekend for drinkin'!
2/19/2008 1:53:00 PM
each vender usually has like 2-5 different types of beers. and only a very few will have one of those beers unavailable in the afternoon session. but yeah, like above person said, get what you wanna try early. then go and try everything else.
2/19/2008 1:56:30 PM
the problem is that i can never remember what beers i liked. i need to take a voice recorder and give a quick reminder to myself.
2/19/2008 2:01:57 PM
one guy i know takes notes.[Edited on February 19, 2008 at 2:03 PM. Reason : ]
2/19/2008 2:03:30 PM
the brochure they give you at the entrance has all the beers and vendors, and a box where you can check the ones you like. [i think]
2/19/2008 2:11:12 PM
I hate finding something I really like only to find out it's not sold in North Carolina.
2/19/2008 2:12:36 PM
i'll probably try to make some kind of note about the ones i like.it'd be pointless to taste them a bunch only to forget them all. heh.
2/19/2008 2:24:23 PM
don't expect to taste anything else if you try dogfish head 120 min ipa
2/19/2008 2:45:39 PM
they don't have that in North Carolina.(and they won't at the beer festival. it is illegal.)[Edited on February 19, 2008 at 3:16 PM. Reason : ]
2/19/2008 3:13:38 PM
^ why is it illegal in nc?sorry for the dumb question i guess.
2/19/2008 3:33:37 PM
i'm guessing the alcohol content is too high
2/19/2008 3:35:26 PM
thought that law was changed recently.[edit]ahhhhhh yes, the limit was raised to 15% and the 120 min IPA is about 20%.[Edited on February 19, 2008 at 3:39 PM. Reason : figured it out.]
2/19/2008 3:37:51 PM
2/19/2008 3:46:34 PM
currently debating whether to volunteer again or actually attend
2/19/2008 3:52:32 PM
i went a few years ago, before the cap was popped on the % rule.someone left a box of 12% irish beer, the ones in wine bottle size, on the bench near the bathroom.we had a fun night with that. tasted kind of horrible
2/19/2008 3:53:19 PM
Its been there... trust me.... its been there. I've had it there they had 60, 90 , 120 and a pumpkin ale at the fall beer festival. Maybe a year ago?
2/19/2008 3:57:33 PM
yeah, upping the abv law was key!i just didn't realize there was still a 15% ceiling.^ is the 120 any good? too strong?[Edited on February 19, 2008 at 3:59 PM. Reason : 120]
2/19/2008 3:58:42 PM
I liked it but i tried the pumpkin right after and didn't taste crap ... then tried a stout and didn't taste crap... it basically ruined my pallet for 30-45 min. But if i remember correctly.... it was heaven. But 90min is probably my favorite beer ever or one of 5.i think the way the law is written it only affects beer SALES so if they import it on their own and give it away i think its legal.... I know the VIPs got utopia one year and its like 25% abv or something.[Edited on February 19, 2008 at 4:15 PM. Reason : .]
2/19/2008 4:12:48 PM
interesting. i'll have to try that. thanks.
2/19/2008 4:18:10 PM

2/19/2008 4:22:04 PM

2/19/2008 4:23:16 PM
well let me know, because i'll never get one. heh.
2/19/2008 4:27:44 PM
hell yeah sweetwater will be there. You can actually purchase any of the brewery's beers from this event right?
2/19/2008 4:32:56 PM

2/19/2008 4:35:18 PM

2/19/2008 5:37:11 PM
anyone know where to get utopia or millenium?
2/19/2008 6:14:45 PM
i happened to get 2 beer taps from the vendors. which apparently it is illegal to walk out with the taps.but every year i have a blast. i always manage to free beer . you just gotta know where to look at the end of the event.
2/19/2008 6:29:56 PM
cant fucking waitlast year vendors were handing out free beer right before we walked outfree shirts as well[Edited on February 19, 2008 at 6:41 PM. Reason : fucking stoked]

2/19/2008 10:06:15 PM

2/19/2008 10:14:36 PM

2/20/2008 3:27:00 PM
This will be my first beer festival! Should be fun!
2/20/2008 3:30:38 PM
i know tickets aren't on sale yet, but does anyone know if they are planning on raising the price from last year?? i think last year it was like $37. my co-worker said he's been twice and the second year was more expensive so i am curious.[Edited on February 20, 2008 at 3:39 PM. Reason : $$]
2/20/2008 3:35:27 PM
^who cares - 37 bucks for all that beer?? Appearantly you havent been to a bar lately, but that sounds liek a deal to me.
2/20/2008 3:45:53 PM
ok?here's where i'm coming from:assuming beer is $4 at a bar (and that's high if you get a domestic) you'd need 9.75 beers worth of liquid to get your money's worth if a ticket is $37.vendors advertise a 2oz sample per beer.9.75 beers * 12 oz/beer = 117 oz117 oz * 1 sample/2oz = 58.5 samples.so you'd need to drink 59 samples to break even.no way in hell you're going to get your money's worth consumption wise in only 4 hours with piss breaks and crowds. it's about quality.
2/20/2008 4:08:34 PM
That's 15 samples/hour ... easy to do if you just walk down a row and drink everything you come across. Not saying I'm going to drink that many, but it's possible.
