I have a short 2-3 minute video on a miniDV tape that I need to be burned onto a CD in any format that Windown Media Player can handle. This tape is footage for an upcoming court case. TVs arent allowed in the court room, so I want to put this footage on CD and play it on a laptop.Anybody know how to go from minidv to cd?

DV Camera>DV Cable>windows movie maker>cd burner

Take the MiniDV cam, plug it into a computer using the firewire or USB 2.0 connection, fire up whatever video capture software you want to use, capture the video, convert it to whatever format you want and burn it to the CD......OR, if you're an NCSU student, take the tape to the multimedia lab

go get Virtualdub (its free) to capture the video. It'll capture to AVI, then you can either just play it like that or use Windows Media Encoder (again free) to encode it to a super standard WMV file.

are you still considered a student? You can always borrow a DV camera from the library. If not, you can also "borrow" a DV camera from best buy or circuit city.

no im not still a student. and by "borrow" from bestbuy do you mean, buy and return it when im done? what about that restocking fee?

get one from walmart, they dont have restocking fees

i got JVC from walmart with USB. USB connections can only be used to transfer still photos from camcorder to desktop NOT VIDEO.

then go get one with firewire[Edited on February 25, 2008 at 1:30 PM. Reason : and some cameras support usb streaming and will upload via usb..]

my computer doesnt have a firewire port, lol.

they have those at walmart too...and are returnable seriously i think most cameras can do it via usb, when i googled "cant upload video via usb" i got a lot of stuff about JVC cameras..

yeah I work in a media center and have run into this problem before - most JVC cameras cannot transfer their video via USB - only firewireI suggest that you take it to the multimedia lab at NCSUif they're like my employer they'll still do it for you, even if you aren't a student - at a small cost
