Windstream has fiber in concord nc. i was playing with my sisters pc on a speed test... whoa... it was in the 20000 range.

The city of wilson is deploying their own fiber network. I dont know if that constitutes "in the area" but it is worth noting. I wouldnt put it past at*t to deploy uverse either.

I'm not sure i think only a few neighborhoods are wired for it now. My sister's was supposedly the first.

this was in cary.and it was a contractor, so i have no clue who they were laying it forit was definitely fiber, though. and it wasn't just infrastructure lines, it went to the terminal boxes near our houses.shit's got me excited.

TWC has a hybrid fiber network... and most standard phone lines are connected to Central Offices with fiber... So there are some possibilities that would result in you not going FIOS in your area just b/c you saw this...but hopefully it is... keeps Quinn and statepkt in jobs

I would say that they are. They laid the lines in my parents neighborhood last week and there is nothing business oriented anywhere near them.

mcPpnts (my girlfriend) 's dad is in charge of the whole wilson project, or partially in charge . they're going all over wilson to RESIDENTIAL and BUSINESSES.TWC/phone companies are PISSED, but can't do shit since it's PRIVATELY FUNDED and not paid by tax dollars.TWC will offer that speed boost shit and it doesn't even hurt them. they're bandwidth hogs as this shows.if there was more competition we'd all have 100/10 uncapped unlimited.
