This bitch is really starting to get on my nerves. She is VERY much so Hillary Clinton in 2000. I don't see her sitting around the East Wing planning state dinners and picking out wall paper. She was just on Larry King, and a lot of what she says is when "we" run this country, when "we" start making change... Thoughts?
2/11/2008 9:30:50 PM
I think a lot of strong willed women (ie HRC, Michelle Obama, etc) are going to assume when their husband holds a high powered position, then she's going to share in it....I think Laura Bush is an exception, but a lot of first ladies have shared the spotlight with their husbands and had a lot of influence on policies.
2/11/2008 9:43:51 PM
coming from a hillary supporter?
2/11/2008 9:53:26 PM
I haven't decided honestly. Not exactly a fan of Bill roaming around the White House either.
2/11/2008 9:58:46 PM
I have been telling people, this is Bill and Hill Part 2, they are the same age, she is a lawyer....they had the "Change" thing(12 years of Republicans)....now it is "Change" no more Bush/Clinton
2/11/2008 10:29:45 PM
^Yeah, I get that feeling too. She very much so reminds me of Hillary.Michelle Obama '16?
2/11/2008 10:49:19 PM
^^ except the pedigree is drastically different. The socioeconomic status of Obama's upbringing is far divergent than Clinton's. Can't speak for Michelle Obama but talking about Barack here.
2/11/2008 11:10:03 PM
2/11/2008 11:17:07 PM
When Michelle Obama used we, I took it more to mean, "we americans." very much in line with Barack's speeches. She is directly refering to when Americans start running this country and when americans make change.
2/11/2008 11:31:11 PM
2/11/2008 11:41:12 PM
Hell, Bill Clinton's stepfather was an abusive drunk. Some pedigree there.
2/11/2008 11:47:49 PM
I like her...I think she humanizes her husband in a much needed way. I wouldn't compare her to Hillary at all. I mean they're both clearly smart, successful women, but I don't think Michelle Obama longs for the spotlight as Hillary does. I don't think she'll be a Laura Bush style First Lady, but I don't see her setting up shop in the West Wing, either.
2/12/2008 12:13:44 AM
2/12/2008 12:14:35 AM
I hate how both the Hillary and Obama camps keep saying When WE win and control the White House....that gets on my nerves. Neither one of you have one shit and surprise neither one of you may actually win the election.
2/12/2008 2:29:54 AM
I like her. She is obviously very witty and sharp, down to earth, and cares a lot about her family.
2/12/2008 3:44:12 AM
Neither one of you have one shit
2/12/2008 8:18:02 AM
If Paul has one shitAnd Sally has no shitAnd Tommy gives two shitsHow many shits does Paul have?
2/12/2008 8:34:04 AM
whatever the constitution allows of course.
2/12/2008 8:58:58 AM
MIchelle Obama is a ivy-educated woman was a VP at u of Chicago and a high power lawyer. People like that aren't just going to fade into the good housewife role and host dinner parties.
2/12/2008 9:47:47 AM
^Good.Laura Bush doesn't do shit except read books to retarded kids and bake cookies. The First Lady of the White House should be an ambassador and a representative of the Executive Branch of the White House. She should use her influence to do good things for America.
2/12/2008 10:31:41 AM
I actually like having a First Lady that does more than decorate the White House and host dinner parties.
2/12/2008 10:42:16 AM
Yea seriouslyStop being a whiny, discarded douchebag.I'd fucking hope our First Lady was proactive in government and executive branch affairs.
2/12/2008 10:42:28 AM
2/12/2008 10:48:26 AM
In fact, let's recap her accomplishments.According to Wikipedia:
2/12/2008 10:52:42 AM
I mean except for Clinton, we didnt really have a really strong first lady before.
2/12/2008 10:54:21 AM
2/12/2008 10:56:00 AM
1) Obviously, the role of women in society at large has changed.2) Many first ladies have had particular issues/initiatives they used their visibility and access as advocates for.
2/12/2008 11:05:08 AM
Like reading and sesame street!

^and they dont like your punk ass either
2/13/2008 10:31:42 PM
She reminds me a lot of Hillary too. I mean, for one thing, she's very divisive. Remember when she did not say she would support Hill if she got the nomination? Way to build bridges Wife of Change!!
2/14/2008 4:04:23 PM
We get it, you have a huge massive hard-on for Hillary Clinton.
2/14/2008 4:11:12 PM
lol he does doesn't he?
2/14/2008 4:47:19 PM
First ladies should shut the fuck up. They aren't elected officials and as such should have no more say in government policy than any other private citizen. Now, that will never happen, but that's the way it should be. We bitch all the time about the undue influence of special interests, but guess where the biggest undue influence comes from... I long for an unmarried president to run this country.

2/14/2008 5:06:47 PM
2/14/2008 6:47:18 PM
^ Now she reminds me even more of the Clintons. Now help me figure out the difference between "support" and "working to support". Are you saying Michelle would support Hillary, in her heart of hearts, but that due to Hillary's "policies, approach, and tone" she would NOT campaign for her? I mean, that's a HUGE difference and it's SOOOOO much better for unifying the party. You really showed me a thing or two. Now, if you're having this much fun parsing the meaning of "is", maybe you would like to defend some of Obama's policies over in my other thread. [Edited on February 14, 2008 at 7:27 PM. Reason : Oh, Obama. You speak so well. ]
2/14/2008 7:19:26 PM
There's no parsing going on...what she's saying is pretty clear, you just enjoy being insolent where the Obamas are concerned. Either that, or you don't know what it means to work for someone...Let's try it a different way. Generally speaking, I don't get too key up for statewide races in North Carolina...but, this year, Janet Cowell's running for the Democratic nomination for Treasurer. I like Janet Cowell...a lot. During discussions about the housing ordinance, she was one of the members of the City Council that really listened to students and their arguments. Cowell and the mayor even went door-to-door in Raleigh to solicit opinions on the issue (the ordinance eventually failed). She earned my respect in a big way back then. But what happens in the general election if she's not the Democratic nominee for Treasurer? It doesn't matter.I'm supporting the Democratic nominee for Treasurer. I do not want Bill Daughtridge as treasurer. But, will I work for David Young if he wins? Am I going to go out and canvas for Young? Will I actively campaign for him the same way I would if Cowell were the nominee? Probably not. That's the difference...but you knew that already because, in the words of CJ Cregg, "you're stupid, but you're not stupid, you know what I'm saying?"[Edited on February 14, 2008 at 10:25 PM. It's not that there aren't substantive reasons for me backing Barack Obama., it's just that, quite frankly, mocking you is just much more fun.Riddle me this...What's Joe Biden's wife going to do in the general election? Is Barbara Richardson gonna be out there on the stump? What about Elizabeth Edwards? Or Jackie Clegg, Chris Dodd's wife?Assuming that their husbands aren't on the ticket, I can't imagine them being out actively campaigning for Hillary (or Obama) either. There are completely different rules for spouses vs. former/currently serving Democratic officials. I mean, Hadassah isn't out there stumping for McCain, despite her having stumped for her husband when she ran for office.
2/15/2008 1:31:12 AM
1) I think it's meaningful you can't even name any of the other wives besides Elizabeth Edwards. And who can blame you? None of the others have been as vocal as Michelle has. She is now giving her own speeches and taking on the Clintons in the press. Can you imagine Joe Biden's wife doing that (whoever she is)?http://blogs.reuters.com/trail08/2008/01/24/michelle-obama-takes-on-hill-bill/2) Michelle did not say she might not "work to support" Hillary because the rules are different for spouces. She said she might not do it because of Hillary's policies and tone. That's just a llliiitttlle different. That seems like it could actually hurt Hillary in the general election because 1) she could get less support from former Obama-lovers 2) Republicans could bring it up in the general election to show how "divisive" Hillary is. Now, I'm not good at spin. I prefer policy. If you want to talk policy, you know where to find me. [Edited on February 15, 2008 at 8:22 AM. Reason : ``]
2/15/2008 8:06:00 AM
michelle obama and bill clinton need to have sex already
2/15/2008 8:12:57 AM
drunknloaded...well, Andrew Young did say that Bill Clinton's probably been with more black women than Barack Obama... Socks``, it's meaningful that you didn't read my post. I specifically named Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, Joe Lieberman and John Edwards' wives. All the wives stumped for their husbands in early primary states (Hadassah did back in 2004 when Lieberman ran for President). Joe Biden's wife's name, btw, is Jill.
2/15/2008 9:48:28 AM
Which is why I specifically added that Michelle is MORE vocal and that she (unlike the others) has directly responded to the Clinton's in the press (see link). The fact that you could not name the other's wives without googling is evidence of this. Who's not read who's post? You also seem to have left out my second point that you're changing what Michelle said to preserve your iconic view of the Obamas. Instead of Hillary's "policies" and "tone" under question, it's because the "rules" are different.
2/15/2008 10:10:50 AM
Here's another good example of Michelle Obama not being divisive.
2/19/2008 10:23:03 AM
That was such a stupid thing to say.
2/19/2008 12:16:16 PM
Michelle Obama:AB in sociology, Princeton University (cum laude)JD, Harvard Law SchoolBarack Obama:BA in political science, Columbia University JD, Harvard Law School (magna cum laude)Endorsed by this college-educated woman. . .. . .a billionaire et al. Why does Ivy Leaguer Michelle Obama hate America?
2/19/2008 12:30:28 PM
She obviously misspoke with that comment. I'm guessing she meant, "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of the level of passion and political activism of my country."Given the context, that appears to be her meaning. I'm guessing the campaign clarifies this, and puts this molehill behind them.
2/19/2008 1:14:26 PM
^ I think that rading blacks out a few key pieces. She did not say she proud of the activism itself. She said she was not proud of her country until its people displayed this level of "activism". Of course, I don't know what activism she's talking about except folks campaigning and supporting Obama. But whatever. What really pisses me off is the fact CNN isn't hounding this like Hillary's "crying" insident in NH. "Were her tears real?" Give me a fucking break. These are both non-issues (though imo Obama's entire campaign is a "nonissue" since it's actually about charisma), but CNN is pretty biased in its coverage of these "nonissues".
