2/10/2008 11:27:08 AM
Our generation is the FUCKTARDS of tomorrow. They don't tell you she was jaywalking and yapping on her cell phone. Couldn't wait 20 fucking seconds for the light to change.I feel sorry for the guy she walked out in front of.I spent a year in Baltimore and it always amazes me when people think they can pull shit like that on a 45 mph road.
2/10/2008 2:10:21 PM
2/10/2008 2:11:58 PM
I mean, it would help traffic too. That whole corridor is busy as all hell during any weekday, particularly rush hours. If the cars did not have to wait for people to cross it would be better for everyone.
2/10/2008 2:18:20 PM
In a big city you do NOT walk when you don't have a signal and expect cars to stop on a 45 mph road. That will get you killed in a hurry. Hell you even look a couple times when you HAVE a walk signal. Most of the students here are from Bumfuck NC and obviously don't know how a crosswalk works. I have had a couple of bitches walk out in front of me on Avent Ferry before. Too fucking important to wait for the traffic to be gone. HINT: cars can kill you, don't walk out in front of them and expect them to stop. What's really messed up is when they walk in front of motorcycles. They're fat and gonna bounce usually, but send the person on the bike flying and hurting, maybe to get run over and killed.

did lewoods see the accident? how does he know all these details? ]
2/10/2008 2:26:06 PM
Yes, I was there. Like I said, the same thing has almost happened to me before. I've had people literally walk right out in front of me while looking AT ME.

They could fix the problem on Avent Ferry and Western with students getting hit by cars by simply enforcing the laws that are in-place and doing some work to educate our unfortunately retarded students about crossing the street (i.e. flyers from the DOT on pedestrian safety for fr0shmen).I think I've seen between three and eight people get hit by cars on avent ferry while I've been here, and I know at least a couple have died while I've been here. If they ticketed pedestrians for jaywalking and ticketed people at the western & avent ferry lights for turning on red they might be able to reduce the number of injuries/deaths that occur in that area. Drivers in general in this area just don't know how to deal with the whole pedestrian right of way/vehicle right of way issue when it comes up. That's why you get assholes turning into people who are crossing the road with a walk signal and it's also why you get dumbasses walking out into the street without signals and getting obliterated by cars.A pedestrian safety study probably should take place right around here along Avent Ferry, around western, and on NCSU campus in general. It's probably about time we reduced the frequency of occurrence of blood stains on our roads.

I'm afraid they'd fix it UNC style. Lower all the speed limits to 25 and if you hit a ped. it's automatically your fault, even if they weren't in a crosswalk and walked right out in front of you from behind a car/bush/whatever so you had no chance to see them or stop.

they did a study in 2000 on the crossings around campus, and then spent some money on new walk/don't walk signs and crossings at a few of the intersections.http://www.ncdot.org/doh/preconstruct/traffic/Safety/reports/bikeped/Hillsborough.pdfit has some aerial pictures of the intersections with locations of accidents. I think western/avent ferry is on P. 7.

^^I think I know where that is... on the west end of Front Beach Dr. in PC, FL
2/10/2008 3:43:48 PM
this whole car thing is a new concept for most students. tractors could only get up to about 15mph.
2/10/2008 3:54:32 PM
come on y'all, even app has a crosswalk
2/10/2008 4:25:35 PM
One problem that exists with Hillsborough Street is the dumbasses that decide to make left turns across traffic during rush hour causing people to back up or plow into people. No left turns should be enforced from like 5pm - 7pm.

hey this was a friend of mine who was driving.luckily the victim is out of the hospital and ok.
