Did anyone see this episode?

It was basically a room that they have to get out of before it collapses.

You have X Y Z in the room a hole in the ceiling and 2 doors. Go.

Then at the end its like, oh wait. there is an exit outside the room in the impassable canyon.

They made an entire episode off of a basic puzzle

By far, one of the worst episodes of any show, ever.

The only thing I got out of it was some decent humor about the room and the situation.

For example, when choosing which door to open first, they chose the blue door and not the red door because red "means bad."

And when they started looking or hammer and nails, I kept imagining trying to solve this puzzle myself in a video game and being like, there has GOT to be hammer and nails. And this was exactly how they went about it in the show.

Stargate is the new Star Trek.

They cancel the first series, and it goes to movies while there is a second series airing. Also, the third series is coming up soon.

^Except with stargate the movie came first, then 2 tv shows. With star trek the original series came first, THEN movies, THEN another series. Different order. Plus i doubt stargate will revolutionize sci-fi series like star trek did.

And they cancelled the original star trek after 3 seasons, and stopped not cancelled stargate after what 10 seasons? Making it the longest runnning sci-fi show in the US passing x-files at 9 seasons. The only longer was doctor who i think (695 episodes compared to stargate's 214.)

So there's a big difference. Star Trek was cancelled after season 3, because it wasn't too successful(untill later), while Star Gate the original tv show was very successful and made it to 10 seasons.

But yeah it needs more Jewel Staite.

The last episode, and IIRC, the one before that were actually not bad.

It's kind of sad that once they have some good episodes, they're killing the show... or maybe the writers only do good work when they're free from pressure. Plus, it seems like they are burning through some special effects budget, with all the CGI they've been throwing in.

^ The show has already been cancelled, but they're working on a new Stargate with some of the same people (I don't know who) geared for a more "younger" audience.

"After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by the Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.

What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.

The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission. Challenges will arise though as the ship comes into range of Stargates placed centuries ahead of the Destiny and the crew is unable to control the ship's navigational schedule. If someone is left behind, there is no way to go back for them, adding to the drama of encountering new races, enemies and adventures."

Stargate just turned into a gay fucking star trek.

This series is the polar opposite of Battlestar Galactica.

Milking it for all its worth.

well damn. I don't want to lose most of the SG characters. losing RDA and Teal'c is already bad enough.

^^^ They could have made Atlantis like they if they wanted... instead of having the wraith just have them visit different weird worlds just like in the first seasons of SG1 exploring stuff.

An overarching enemy ruins things for the most part.

Stargate Universe:

Quote :
"Breakdown-- Colonel Everett Young: 40's handsome, capable, former SG team leader. Like the Jack O'Neill of ten years ago, but Young's edges have tended to sharpen over time. He requested permission to serve the remainder of his commission on Earth upon marrying his wife, Hailey, two years ago, but for now he's temporary commander of a secret off world base. The loss of two members of his team several years ago has taught him never to take anything for granted, and be prepared for anything. He stays on top of his team so they stay alive. STAR NAMES ONLY. SERIES REGULAR;

Tamara Jon: 20-25, all ethnicities (Asian Preferably). SGC Field medic, Captain grade. Off world experience. Beautiful, tough, smart, capable. Paramedic level training. Able to triage serious injury. Modest background. Dreamed of being a doctor but couldn't afford medical school and the Air Force was her best option. She ends up being the most medically inclined person on the ship but is overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge and experience treating seriously wounded and ill patients. She also lacks the medicine and supplies and has to make do. SERIES REGULAR;

Chloe Carpenter: 20ish. Stunning and sexy. Daughter of a U.S. Senator. Silver spoon upbringing and a little spoiled but not stupid either. Politically and socially savvy. Dreams of following in her father's footsteps but for now she's a bit of a party girl in her first year at an Ivy League school. Her father's tragic death and the dire circumstances of being trapped on a spaceship seriously tests her character. SERIES REGULAR;

Eli Hitchcock: 20-25. Total slacker. Utter genius. Mathematics, computers, anything he puts his mind to. Acerbic sense of humor. A social outcast. Comes from a broken home. Lacks confidence because his true intelligence has never really been recognized like Matt Damon's character from Good Will Hunting with a little Jack Black thrown in. SERIES REGULAR;

Lt. Jared Nash: 20-25. Junior SGC team member. Officer material but green and rough around the edges. Every teenage girl's fantasy. Like a college quarterback thrown into his first pro game, he is thrust into the role of leader well before he's ready for the responsibility and must learn to take command, earn respect through action, and manage the diverse personalities on the ship to keep everyone alive. Like Jason Bourne, he is skilled and well-trained however he is mentally unprepared for the urgency of the situation. SERIES REGULAR;

Ron "Psycho" Stasiak: 20, all ethnicities. Marine. Big, strong, silent. You want him on your side. You don't want him mad at you. Lacks control over his temper in non combat situations. His past is a mystery but it's clear something dark formed the hard shell around him. Yet, there must also be some moral center because otherwise he'd kill everyone around him. Think Eric Bana's character "Hoot" in Blackhawk Down. SERIES REGULAR.

So he's basically a clone of Ronon from Atlantis?

I imagine the inspiration for that archetype was one of the creator/writers' barbarian character from when they used to play Dungeons and Dragons in college. I'm thinking some of the SG: Atlantis female characters have similarly sad origins.

I don't like how they raped the asgard ship in battle, when they couldn't even touch it before when it was at atlantis. That made no sense.

I'm rewatching this series, after just rewatching about half of SG:1, and I liked Atlantis a lot more this time.

I think the staffing changes they did at the end of season 3 were weird, and the writing got a little changer, but seasons 1-3 of Atlantis are really solid, better than large swaths of SG 1.
