the latter, I don't have to make the effort to connect the left upright with the main upright.

if i did #1, with as fast and sloppy as i write, it would probably start to look like a 9 (the two already are very close as it is with my handwriting)

it seems like more engineers use the "4" style. at least in my office, I am the only one who writes it like #2.

we need more middle fingers and less 2's. This thread can still be salvaged.

#1

why would you take two strokes to write a single digit?

that's dumb

that's like writing the number 8 by drawing a S, then adding a /

Format #2. My writing is very messy, and if I try to one-stroke it, a 9 with a funny tail usually results. This is particularly exacerbated by the fact that my '9's have straight rather than curved lower parts.

although the first one can look like a 9 if you're trying to ambiguously fudge an answer that you're not sure about

Like the second one.

But the real question is...

do you draw the loop in the bottom of your 2's?

I used to, but stopped about 14 years ago for some reason and never went back.

Used to be #1 (my father is an engineer and does his that way), but about midway through elementary school I changed over to #2 because I had a bitch of a teacher that started counting off because she felt that my 4s looked too much like 9s despite the fact that you'd have to be a complete tard to get the kind of answers she was accusing me of giving (2x7=19?).

Now that I'm no longer in school I've considered switching back.
