which user is it that monitors the police / fire radio bands?

I would like to know what is going on in North Raleigh, near Lynn Road / Creedmore. There have been lots and lots of sirens constantly over the past 45 minutes.

That would be KE4ZNR

And that would be a structure (house) fire near Lookout Mountain Rd and Ray Rd which is near the Ray Rd/Lynn Rd intersection...

KE4ZNR, i have a question for you

i have a cb and a vhf marine radio in my truck. some fucker told me once that it was illegal to use a marine radio in non-marine applications. is that true?

casummer-sorry about not seeing your post until now...technically yes it is illegal to use your marine radio outside of actual "official" marine usage but I don't think you would have any issues as long as you do not transmit on the emergency channel (Channel 16, 156.800Mhz) and don't interfere with other marine communications
