Yes, video is really old, but the thread is not about the video, it's just portraying perfectly what the fuckwads in durham are taught.

In the IBF (International Basketball Federation), flopping is a technical foul. That's how it should be.

if i were sidney, i would have told the players to all flop at the same time one possession on defense (after we were out of it), just to make a point. i think it'd have been effective.

shouldn't the refs at this level be schooled on the difference between a foul and a flop.

Does anyone honestly believe that Javi pushed Paulus to the ground with such ease?????

It's still our fault, though. Our guys have to come in with the assumption that we are spotting them 15 points because of this BS.

This thing has been going on for years....

First it was Dean Smith now it is Coach K.

The oldest and "best" coach gets the calls.

I say if they are going to flop you might as well actually do something to them on their way down. As soon as they start their fall they've already got the call. Might as well increase their momentum to the ground while they're at it. We'll foul out, but they'll concussion out.

that would have made ESPNS top 10 also...we could have been on the list twice

but i would have done this too...just to be a dick
i think it would have been fucking great to see that. lol

haha, i didn't even see that. it would have been like when that team got an excessive celebration penalty on purpose this past football season. (can't remember the team)

Didn't they give paulus a technical for flopping in one of the games this year? I can't remember which one it was though.

that is irrelevant to this thread. this isnt about "getting the calls." the best teams and players always get the benefit of the doubt, it isnt fair but that is the way it is.

this is about blatant flopping and overselling a reaction to get a call. it is one thing when referees make shitty calls that favor a good player or team, it is another when a player acts like he is made out of glass and straw and self-destructs anytime someone touches him. an extended arm turns into a forearm shiver by warren sapp as paulus, or the generic replacement, goes flying into 10 feet across the hardwood in a show of agony and desperation.

whether an actual foul is committed on any give play is irrelevant to this discussion. if you get fouled, hopefully the referee will see it and you willl get the call, if not, those are the breaks of the game.

again, they have a penalty for diving in hockey, and apparently one in soccer (though I thought you'd get a nobel prize for flopping on the pitch), so why not one in basketball?

^^you know what he means.

this isn't about the bullshit nocall on the kick ball/fastbreak. this is about duke players flopping at the slightest contact (or none at all) and drawing the whistle.

Is there some rule about criticizing other coaches? Why don't other coaches call K out on this?

I mean this shit is pretty obvious and has been going on for years, it's a cheap exploitation of the foul system, takes away from the game, and is a shitty way to steal momentum and cheap points.

It's one thing to oversell what actually could be considered a charge, but players flailing back when they're barely touched by the other team, or even falling down before contact or on the lightest bump is cheap and refs need to start calling people out on being little bitches.

I'm not saying K isn't a great coach and I'm not saying his players aren't incredibly talented, but until someone calls them out or puts a stop to it, coaches and players will exploit the system to their advantage as cheap or dirty as it may be.

ok, there is some merit to this, watching the VT game, that one that just happened was BS. Seeing these big athletes go down with a flick of the wrist is crazy
