Any of you live there, or have you lived there in past couple of years? I'm looking at a job at a company that's based in Boulder, and I've never even been to Colorado. I'm an outdoorsy person, so I suspect I'll love the scenery, but aside from that, I'm clueless. What's the cost of living? Higher or lower than the Raleigh-Durham area? Are the people nice? Good drivers? Is it clean? Any comments or suggestions you have, please post! Thanks!

You can prepare for your move by smoking lots of pot.

Big drug community up there? Or just hippies? Or one and the same?

Boulder is an awesome place to live.

Just lots of hippies. The last time I was there I was walking through the pedestrian mall (which is actually really cool) and had college kids stop me and ask if I could give them money for pot. Aside from pot and psychedlics I don't think that the drug culture there is any worse than it is here.If you like skiing its a great place to live.

Colorado has one of the lowest, if not the lowest, obesity rate in the nationwhy? because on the weekends everybody goes and climbs mountains or whatever. Also there's a lot of vegans over there

^ It's only 1 hour from Rocky Mountain National Park. A great place to hike!

Thanks for the comments...any ideas about the cost of living? I'm sure Google can help me out, but I figured I'd see if any of you know firsthand. I'm kinda psyched about the possibility.

Its not called "The People's Republic of Boulder" for nothing: though left-wing philosophy seems to stop at free housing for all comrades (i.e. housing is relatively expensive at least anywhere close to the city (commune)).The mall is pretty neat: I wonder if the contortionist fellow is still there? If you like rock climbing, its certainly the place to be.[Edited on January 31, 2008 at 8:55 PM. i'd live in boulder in a heartbeat - in fact, i hope to move out there in a few yrs. the only weird thing about the place is pearl street mall, w/ all the homeless looking kids that are high (or are pretending to be, i couldn't figure it out). otherwise, it's hella cool. def a fantastic place for outdoor enthusiasts. is there any way you could visit before accepting the job?

My old roommate is stationed out there and loves it. Its another great place to live if you love the outdoors.

Oh, I do. I'm so very sick of office life - I'd love to have some good outdoor distractions for the weekends. There are some around here, but I don't like driving so far for them.
