As someone who worked for almost a year on the campaign, I am surprised that he's already dropped out. Almost sad...

1/30/2008 9:41:59 AM
Good.He fucking sucks. I'd rather see Hillary in office than a fucking tarheel faggot.
1/30/2008 9:42:28 AM
I liked Edwards, but I think this is great news, if he endorses Obama and his supporters largely go over to Obama.i'm betting he saw the numbers and wanted to drop out before Super Tuesday so he would pull a Nader on Obama and split his vote[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 9:51 AM. Reason : .]
1/30/2008 9:43:38 AM
He would've been the "king maker" come convention time because of holding the delegates that he had, even though its a small number....He might not endorse anyone, but definitely Obama over Clinton.
1/30/2008 9:59:24 AM
he better endorse obama
1/30/2008 10:01:25 AM
You knowHe'd probably endorse someone who he thinks is going to win....and nod towards him as the new veep.
1/30/2008 10:13:18 AM
I wonder which of the 'Two Americas' he will retire to....

I think it will be interesting to see where Edwards supporters go - I'm not sure that its clear cut that they will go to Obama. (obviously who he endorces will have a major impact). But if you look at the exit polls from SC, Edward's strongest Demographics were 65+, $100,000+ Income, and White Men, which were also demographics where Clinton was stronger and Obama was weaker.
1/30/2008 11:13:25 AM
Does anyone really think he will get on as VP for either clinton or obama? I just can't imagine either of them going for that....
1/30/2008 11:55:39 AM
^agreed, i dont think either of them want himfurthermore, i can't imagine edwards going down the road of taking a VP slot again
1/30/2008 11:57:39 AM

He would have made a much better president than Bush in my opinion, and he still may make a decent vice president although I have nothing riding on whether he ends up in that role or not, his campaign changed the race.He made health care and poverty issues in this campaign. And on his way out got both Hillary & Obama to pledge to make poverty big parts of their campaigns.I'm proud to have worked for his campaign for the ideas & issues it put out there. And I believe someone guessed right, I will now be in the Obama camp. With Hillary VS Obama their main themes are Experience VS Change. Edwards was a change guy, so I think many of his supporters will drift Obama's way. Obama was the first to follow Edwards on making health care an issue during the campaign cycle. Also Edwards apologized for voting for the Iraq War, Obama was against it from the start, and I think that puts them closer together than Hillary who stood by her pro war vote.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 4:13 PM. ^^ goodness knows we need to be for "change." I don't care what that "change" actually is. I just really want "change." There is nothing better than "change."

Can't really get any worse than it is now.
1/30/2008 6:10:36 PM
^^just because you haven't bothered to look into the issues regarding the democratic candidates doesn't mean others haven't.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 6:11 PM. Reason : .]

Bye to Rudy
1/30/2008 6:34:08 PM
dude. what is there to look at? other than the word "change," there isn't much they are proposing, other than blanket socialism
1/30/2008 6:47:30 PM
Giving everyone a base amount of medical care is not socialism. Trying to tilt the odds a little bit towards the poorest in your society is not socialism, it's a step towards social equality. If you'd step back and ignore the stupid republican rhetoric on the issues you'd realize that just possibly the 'free market' isn't really so good unless you're at the top. You can argue that taking care of all of your citizens, as opposed to just the wealthiest or poorest is socialism, but then you're just a tool and don't know what you're talking about.
1/30/2008 6:53:25 PM
social equality? anybody right now who works a job pretty much has social equality
1/30/2008 6:59:02 PM
so is this inevitably going to lock the nomination up for hillary?
1/30/2008 6:59:36 PM
^^^It's not full socialism...it's merely a step towards socialism.
1/30/2008 7:02:45 PM
On NPR they were talking about now that Edwards is out, how do the two remain candidates stack up on economy issues. They said Obama was slightly more libertarian in that he wanted more money to go to the poor (and to some degree the middle class too I think), but wanted to leave it up to those on how to spend it, where Hillary wanted funds to help in the same areas but with a more mandated approach on how to spend it.
1/30/2008 7:14:05 PM
1/30/2008 7:21:18 PM
^^ if the gov't is handing out money (which they generally have no business doing, but that's another subject), i have no problem with mandating how that taxpayer money is spent, especially since the people they're giving it to have already demonstrated in many cases that they aren't good at making financial decisions on their own.
