so all my buddies that lift dont do it at State anymore, they go to peak or whatever but I pay for Carmichael...might as well stay there.

and then the others dont have the right schedule or arent dedicated enough.

anyone on here wanna start a workout group, and by workout i mean heavy lifting, cardio/running and diet?

need to know your schedule to really determine if it'll work
gotta be dedicated tho, if its more than one person, great...lovely(maybe i should have made a TWW workout crew thead)

he's looking for a partner/group to work out - what better than group fitness?

I teach yoga on mondays, cardio combo on wednesdays, cardioboxing and to the core on sundays

there are some classes that appeal to guys and have 50/50 guys/girls - raise the bar, power drills...

if you're free fridays around noon, I might be able to get you in on free personal training

you'd be surprized at how the "estrogen-laiden" classes can kick your ass... and how many guys attend.

I'm still curious about just what a personal training session w/ you would be. I think that could have potential for hillarity.

I will admit I thought shit like yoga and stuff was kinda lame, till I started doing it as part of my new workout routine and it damn sure aint easy like I thought it would be, in fact its down right hard.

Doesn't mean that they would be beneficial towards mine or his goals, or that the guys aren't effiminant cardio bunnies.

^^^^I'm not certified for PT yet, so it wouldn't be with me. I am certified to teach group fitness though. Anyone is more than welcome to workout with me - I can give suggestions or motivation. I'm studying for the certification test so it shouldn't be too long before I'm a REAL PT.

^^^You have no idea what you're missing. Whenever a group of guys start watching my class, I say hi and have everyone wave. Don't be that guy. Come in and doooooooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiittttttt.

^^The first time I tried yoga, I hated and and thought it was lame. I gave it another chance (and also tried pilates) and now I'm hooked. It helps sooooooo much with soreness and flexibility. Plus the pilates really helped shape my abs (when I was doing it regularly). It's a lot harder than people think.

^True, but I think everyone can benefit from a good cardio work out And we also have classes that aren't the stereotypical aerobic-dancing-type classes (i.e. Cardioboxing, Power Drills).

There are plenty of other ways to do "cardio" than in classes. You can do it IN THE WEIGHT ROOM, on a feild, pulling a sled, swimming, rowwing, sailing a boat, playing basket ball, playing raquet ball, on a sidewalk, or on a bike.

I always look at "cardio classes" as exercise for people who get bored with running.

By heavy do you mean very high weights, or just being serious/spending lots of time on it?

I'm interested since I'm out of shape and have been on a diet for a while, but need to increase my muscle mass (to increase my metabolism). I lifted in high school but it's hard to improve when you don't have people to lift with or at least a spotter.

both, eventually lifting really heavy

im doing high reps low weight now and i switch it up and go realllll heavy once a week so thts where it would be nice to have a spotter

also lifting those high reps would be nice to have someone get in a few more total fatigue reps

def. wasnt me that game, but good try.

going heavy once a week? how often are you lifting? I only work each muscle group once a week, and occasionally I'll spread it out to once every 10-14 days when I'm seriously restricting calories and upping cardio.

it depends on my muscles and how sore they are, im liftin 5 days a week tho, different groups of muscles of course
one day for rest and one strictly cardio, altho i do cardio every day...but its my longggg cardio workout

OP-

I lift real heavy and go to Planet Fitness 7 days a week for my evening workout. My morning workouts are at Carmichael. My workout partner and I have been training together for almost 3 years non-stop so I guess we would be considered "very in shape" since we haven't been out of it at all.... But I know hes looking for a dude to workout with since my workouts are starting to stray from his now. You can PM or facebook msg me if you wanna try working out with him or I.

PS: By heavy I mean-- he dead lifts like 500lbs, benches ~230 range, leg press ~650lbs... you know.. heavy. I lift heavy but I also weigh 100 pounds less than him.

how do people keep track of their weight on the leg press machines? do they just count the plates they put on it, or do they add in some amount for the weight of the sled?

I never could figure out a good way to keep track of sled weights and angles, so I always avoid getting on leg press machines when I travel out of town. Unfortunately, I've found that some gyms are getting rid of squat racks and power cages altogether.

^ Typically, you count plates and add 65lbs for the sled.

^ DNL the best way to get in shape is to change out your own plates

if your gym has 100 pound plates, you need someone else to help you load both ends of the bar at the same time.
