when i used to work in chapel hill for the summers, i always went 64 to farrington road / farrington point rd up to southern village where we were employed to "water trees"

as most of you know, we've pretty much had some kind of drought forever. well at least we did every summer from like 97-02 or so, cause thats when they paid us to water stupid ass trees.

the point is, coming over jordan lake every day, you didnt really notice it going away so much... but we did start noticing old roads and shit out there, i guess from before the army engineers dammed it up and flooded it.

it never really occured to me that the stuff would just sit under there forever, but i guess it pretty much will

falls lake would probably have a lot more cool stuff, since its a lot bigger. all the stuff showing up at jordan was off (i think) 2 foot water level drop,which exposed a shitload of the shallow areas. falls has to have some cool stuff if you go to the right places

That's how the water level is regulated. Even in drought conditions the dam has to allow water to flow through because water supply downstream must be maintained for wildlife, etc. Water goes into the tall concrete structure and under the earth part of the dam and comes out of a spillway to continue on its way down the river. The water coming out of the spillway has an amazing amount of force behind it.
