Hill didn't spend much time in South Carolina. She mostly let Bill do the campaigning. She wanted to make it clear that she was essentially giving this state to Obama. Good idea really. With all the blacks there was no way she would win. There won't be a clear front runner until Feb 5, if then.

I hope Hillary gets it. Obama is fucking clueless. Not including a mandate in his health care package isn't a technical disagreement, it's an indication that the man doesn't understand the basic impact of incentives on human behavior. I don't want that in a president.

It would be nice if Edwards won, but what can you do?

How is this a surprise. You know which way a it was gonna break in SC on racial lines, and it did. Jesse Jackson won that state..TWICE.

I still think Clinton gets the nomination.

Obama is much more likeable then clinton, but he somehow is positioned further left than clinton. Despite what he says, his voting record is different.

Either way, Im not sure either can win the presidency.

Here's a joke I heard after New Hampshire that made me laugh.
The conventional wisdom has a name for candidates that rely on the youth vote: the loser.

Most young voters don't dick about policy. Well, MOST voters don't know dick, but especially the youngins. 8/10 they latch on to rockstar candidates that are very charasmatic, but have few good ideas (and little chance of winning). For example, McGovern, Gary Hart, John McCain.

All of these folks talked about "changing the tone in washington", but went to very little detail about what that actually meant.

Ask yourself. "Why am I voting for Obama"? If you can't come up with a single policy perscription of his that you think is better than the other candidates, I recomend you start doing more research. This election is pretty darn important, so you need to make sure you make a good choice.

PS* My dislike of Obama has nothing to do with race. Though I do dislike his supporters that ONLY support him because of his race. For example, that guy on Colbert a few weeks ago who only gave one reason why he liked Obama. "Just look at his face. He will put a multicultural face on America that will change the way the world percieves us." Please.

Jesse Jackson won the state in 84 and 88 and Al Sharpton got over 15% in 2004....this is not suprising....also, Jesse went on to win other southern states.....lets wait until Super Tuesday to see who really is "pwnt"

I believe Jesse got like 45% or more.


Heck, Hill might win by more in CA, NJ, NY

Yes, Joe. The conventional wisdom is certainly working against Obama. And you're a real free thinker for supporting him.

Give me a break. MSNBC reporter Lee Cowen openly swooned on camera about how it was hard to be objective when reporting on such a charasmatic speaker.

Everyone is in love with him because he speaks so well, but the man is an empty suit. He talks a good deal about "hope" but not about specific policies. And when he actually does talk policy, it's clear he's drifting (see my other thread).

You need to really check out the issues brother.

you're an odd cat, man. did an Obama suppoorter piss in your cheerios? it's like you have some sort of personal grudge against him and anyone who dares to support him. What's your motivation?

you can sniff all you want about all of us policy-ignorant "empty suits" who "don't know dick", but I HAVE read his policies. Obama has highly detailed position papers on a variety of issues ranging from healthcare to economic stimulus to Iraq to ethics to reconciling faith in politics. Many of his ideas are, in fact, not extremely different than Hillary's. the details of the mechanisms by which they can be realized may be different, but the goals are largely the same. Other of his ideas and solutions are unique to him alone.

What I don't understand is why you think Obama has no developed policies on issues. It's almost as if you are willfully ignoring the entire corpus of policy positions that he has been speaking and writing about for the past year or more.

Is this some sort of cathartic rant for you to blow off your personal frustration? You seem to be personally offended that some junior Senator has dared challenge what was, until not too long ago, the foregone conclusion.

I'm really sorry this political process is not more like the coronation you seem to desire.
