I look at all that "withheld" money and wonder if I'll ever see it again. [Edited on January 24, 2008 at 3:15 PM. Reason : all signs point to [NO] ]

I look at the "gross income" and I wonder why I never have money.

^me too!I looked at what i've earned since i began this job. Then mentally noted how much I had in my collective accounts and am wondering what in the fuck i did with the rest of it

1/24/2008 3:31:53 PM
i was okay not knowing exactly how much was missing, and just being aware that i wasn't getting all of my paycheck.but now that i've seen it, i miss it.
1/24/2008 3:33:15 PM
hey, at least we have $600 - $1200 coming to pay off any extra we owe

Billy mack is a detective down in texasYou know he knows just exactly what the facts isHe aint gonna let those two escape justiceHe makes his livin off of the peoples taxes

god knows if we're getting anything back this year. first year filing as married, though i think we're filing separately. if we get that 300/person or whatever, it's going straight to paying off credit cards. or it's going straight into the san diego 2009 trip fund. or maybe 50/50 both are important causes
1/24/2008 3:35:55 PM
what the amount you've mentioned that both of you make, it'd prlly be more advantageous to file jointly.make sure you carefully scrutinize the different tiers you'd be in

vote republican for lower taxes
1/24/2008 3:46:29 PM
No benefit in filing separately anymore. They used to give you less of a deduction if you were married but now it's the same deduction 2 single people would get.I haven't gotten any W-2s yet, but I don't see what the complaining is about. We live in a great country with an incredible infrastructure. I'm personally willing to pay those taxes to ensure that all of the government services we depend on are there tomorrow when I wake up.

combining will put him a tier up. we'll probably run 'em both (together and separate) to see how it looks and then file whichever is more appropriate.

lolgot one from MANPOWER where my total federal withheld was 58 cents

Do you get the W2 in the mail or do they hand it out at work? Before this job all my jobs were temporary and ended before W2s were sent, so I always got them in the mail. I'd prefer to get it at work, with my concerns about mail theft.

when i was working in high school, getting a W-2 was depressing to me because it would show how much of a free loan i had given to uncle sam
