I never could do these. I think it has something to do with having no depth perception

after you see the 3d image and then readjust your eyes so that it is 2d again, you can actually see the objects as subtle variations in the 2d image.

that that banana image. don't view it in 3d. just look at it and scan from left to right. there is a repeating motif, but soon you will see some structures/artifacts in there which are not repeating. those make the 3d image when you do the eye thing. or, view in 3d and then look for the non-repeating structures, they will be pretty clear.

i had a whole book of them some decades ago, it is still somewhere in the house. after practicing a bit in those days, i was able to view a new one in a fraction of a second. once you are able to do one, it is quite easy to become fast.

btw, just came to know this "magic eyes" terminology a few minutes ago. i have always called them and seen them referred as stereographs.

p.s. if you look carefully, you can see SCOLA written in the 2d image.

haha yeah i know, i was just explaining that the what appears in the 3d image can be seen in the 2d image as well, if you look carefully.

ok, these have me stumped. these are a different style. instead of a nonsense image with a repeating design, these are an image of an object repeated twice side by side. i can't seem to make them into 3d. check out the other ones on the right also by him, also the same weird style.

let me know if you can do it.

I figured it out. You have to cross your eyes until you see three images. The middle image is the one that will be in 3D. Let your eyes relax until the middle image comes into focus.

That's difficult. You don't look at them the same way as you look at a Magic Eye. You literally cross your eyes and lose focus. But every time the image starts to come together for me, my eyes automatically focus, revealing the regular old image again. I might have seen a hand at one point, but I might just not be able to properly see it.

there is a book of magic eyes that has descriptive captions like "horse jumping through a wave" or "couple dancing in ballroom" however none of the pictures actually contain anything. It used to be my go-to gag gift back when magic eyes were in fashion but I can't remember what it was called to find it again. my sister may still have a copy, i never told her it was fake.

notice on the stereo pairs, the image appears half the size by 2x the resolution when you are seeing it in 3D.

weird. I could see the swimming shark back in '08 but I cant now. I had a corneal ulcer when I was 16 that ate through half of my cornea and I now have permanent vision damage. My left eye must be becoming more and more dominant over time.
