1/21/2008 4:35:35 AM
making plans to go to Rex. thx.
1/21/2008 4:36:33 AM
hey evan, have you ever had to insert a chest tube? Of all the things that could happen to me in a Trauma Bay or ER, that is probably my biggest fear.
1/21/2008 4:40:07 AM
LMA loli call it the airway vaginacuz well it looks like a vag on a stick
1/21/2008 4:40:23 AM
chest tubes really aren't a big deal.. i mean, in terms of what they do, they are indeed a big deal... but functionally they're very simplealso if you're in a state in which you need a chest tube, you won't care about the pain from that, the pain in your chest and the fact that you can't breathe will greatly overpower that

1/21/2008 4:41:34 AM
nahi think everybody notices itthey just dont talk about it
1/21/2008 4:43:04 AM
wierd, i'll actually be there.
1/21/2008 4:44:08 AM
i wouldnt mind getting surgury if it made me a stronger human
1/21/2008 4:44:15 AM
next time i use one i will make it a point to mention it
1/21/2008 4:44:23 AM
1/21/2008 4:44:50 AM
I'm not worried about someone's ability to insert one....and while I'm sure my lack of breath will trump the pain of a chest tube, the idea of someone cutting open an area between my ribs, and sticking their fingers/tube inside of me all while being awake without pain meds, sounds horrific to me.
1/21/2008 4:46:02 AM
the alternative is dying :\i'd take a chest tube over death any day
1/21/2008 4:46:35 AM

1/21/2008 4:49:05 AM
evan, clearly I'm not suggesting death would be better...and luckily I wouldn't have a say in the matter but much like people fear waking up in the middle of surgery, I see getting a chest tube inserted along those same lines.
1/21/2008 4:49:21 AM
damn it, i better start stalking your post history and see what i've got to worry about here...
1/21/2008 4:49:40 AM
i understandbut i wouldn't worry too much about it, lolif you were ever my pt. i would make sure to be as gentle as possible if you needed a tube
1/21/2008 4:50:17 AM
versed and fentanyl ftw!
1/21/2008 4:51:43 AM
thanks....highly appreciated. also, intubation is one of those things that looks brutal when it's done...I mean it just looks like things are being cut and shit while it's on it's way down
1/21/2008 4:52:24 AM
haha, yeah i'm not worried about it. been there, done that too many times. well, maybe the gentle tube insertion bit [homo] [Edited on January 21, 2008 at 4:55 AM. Reason : you def. can't be any worse than some of the other retards working in there]

you must be doing really well to come play onlinegood for youdont harrass your nurse too much
1/21/2008 10:05:54 PM
yeah, anesthesia doesn't really bother me much. i'm wide awake/ready to go as soon as i'm rolled into recovery. the pain is being managed by a steady diet of a dilaudid pca and percocet. today was my 13th surgery within the past 15 months, so i imagine that probably has something to do with it also.
1/21/2008 10:20:46 PM
Wakemed is soso. I like Rex better.
