man oh man...i wish i wouldnt have been 16 in the year 2000 and not know as much about politics...what is up with this? every station keeps talking about how in 2000 mccain got smacked in south carolina...they almost have a negative stigma about it, similar to how whores have a negative stigma....like for example, i just heard something to the effect "he went in after getting killed in 2000 and got the establishment to back him"i also heard how he got attacked like crazy in SC in 2000 and even heard something to the effect that he fathered a black child in SCwhat is the dealall i remember about 2000 was that bush won iowa i think, then mccain got nh, then bush won in SCi hope this is TSB worthy...if the thread is solved quickly duke can delete or lock

in 2000, Bush and Karl Rove sucker punched McCain in SC, spreading lies and rumors about him. For example, Rove organized a large state-wide telephone survey, and one of the questions was something like "Would your opinion of McCain change if it was discovered he fathered a black 'love-child'?"Then a day or two after the large survey, he got a story of McCain put into most of the large newspapers with a picture of McCain and a black child, the implication being that this was "the black love-child". It was, however, a black child that John McCain and his wife adopted from Bangladeshi. Bush raked McCain across the coals in SC just so he could win. It's a shame McCain decided to back Bush on anything ever again. some more infohttp://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/03/21/the_anatomy_of_a_smear_campaign/http://www.bartcopnation.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=522

wtf...why would someone ask a question like that? i mean did he really father a black child? i doubt it...also wtf...all i hear about is how campaigns are affraid of going negative cause it turns voters off...well how the fuck is bush gonna go "strongly negative"?oh ok i typed that and then read ^thats so messed up...how are the dumbfucks in SC gonna fall for that??
1/19/2008 11:02:52 PM
^ umm, because they're dumbfucks. and racist. and bush says he didn't "go negative" because he claimed no involvement in the smear campaigns against McCain. Either way, don't ever believe a candidate when they say they refuse to go negative. they all do it
1/19/2008 11:07:47 PM
so just to clarifylike basically bush started a rumor that mccain fathered a black child(it was adopted), and the whites in sc were like "oh fuck that we are not voting for that nigger lover"?i would think the black child thing would help him get votes from black people, even if it was bullshit, although most blks vote dem...man this sucks so bad..think how better the country would be if mccain had won in 00[Edited on January 19, 2008 at 11:12 PM. Reason : had won instead of bush...if gore had won this country would be awesome right now]

i think its cause thompson acts like he is the one true conservative in the race
1/19/2008 11:29:09 PM
when he isn't. Cause everyone and their brother knows that paul is the one true conservative in the race, but nobody cares
1/19/2008 11:34:31 PM
well imo, paul is too conservative...his ideas are not plausible in todays world
1/19/2008 11:36:29 PM
then you are a fool. Do you think the Constitution is not plausible in this world?
1/19/2008 11:37:05 PM
do you think we should get rid of the IRS?
1/19/2008 11:38:41 PM
DNL:McCain and his wife adopted a little girl from somewhereorother...she's black/dark skinned.
1/19/2008 11:40:19 PM
thx duke...someone posted it earlier....i cant believe the people in sc fell for that kinda crap
1/19/2008 11:41:39 PM
No good deed goes unpunished.I mean, if you're going to play dirty politics like that, at least pick something less honorable to exploit.

You have to put the 2000 SC race into perspective as well: McCain's defeat there was the beginning of the end of McCain's insurgent campaign against George W. Bush. For McCain to score victory here is all the sweeter.

McCain/Paul would pretty much guarantee a victory

man this election is going to suck so bad...i bet its gonna be contreversial as fuck and make the US look worse...plus half of america is gonna be like god dammit this sucks...i bet the US gets even more partisan after this...how many think the election somehow goes to the courts or there is like 1 state that fucks up the results or something
1/20/2008 1:55:00 AM
Don't give up hope yet, I think it more depends on which candidates make it through the primaries. If you get someone like Huckabee, then maybe, but I would think candidates like Obama, McCain, and perhaps a spoiler in Bloomberg would make it a good race with quality candidates.
1/21/2008 12:12:21 AM
I would tend to agree.
1/21/2008 1:27:38 AM
mccain looking real presidential lately...its on like donkey kong this electioni'm leaning toward mccain[Edited on January 21, 2008 at 1:53 AM. Reason : if bloomberg is going to do something he needs to get his campaign going...]
1/21/2008 1:51:01 AM
McCain is all but a no-brainer for me to support as President, and has been for years. I'm not saying he's perfect, for sure--but he is by far the best candidate for President I can remember in the 10 years I've been able to vote (not to mention in this election).I don't think Bloomberg will enter if it's McCain and either Clinton or Obama. The only plausible way I see him entering the race is if Huckabee miraculously got the GOP nod.
1/21/2008 3:07:19 AM
i dont think he is going to do anything either
