I used to do this all the time back in the day with my grandpa. Just recently got back doing it. Don't do it all the time, but some sliced apple with some salt is good eats.

1/16/2008 8:07:41 AM
I've heard of people doing peanut butter or sprinkling on a little sugar, but salt wtf?
1/16/2008 8:15:03 AM
never tried an apple with salt... tomato with salt is the shit though!
1/16/2008 8:17:14 AM
really, a light sprinlking of salt should only bring out more of the flavor of the apple in the end.Works on the same principle of seasoning ANY food. Salty is not a flavor you normally try to achieve, you just use the salt to round out the flavors of the food.I sprinkle salt on tomatoes, melons, apples, pears, etc. Not citrus though, the acid works essentially the same way the salt does, so it would just fuck up the flavor IMO.
1/16/2008 8:20:46 AM
I've never eaten an apple with salt. If I'm going to dress it up, I'll use cinnamon and sugar. My grandpa used to put salt in his beer... not sure what that does for the taste.
1/16/2008 8:37:31 AM
No salt, but I'm with you^ on the cinnamon. Also, Wawa has the cut up apples in a cup w/ caramel for dipping...that's delicious.
1/16/2008 8:49:59 AM
pretty much anything with salt is good, so i'm not doubting it'd be tasty. i just have never had it.
1/16/2008 8:52:17 AM
cucumbers with salt is good.
1/16/2008 8:55:13 AM
I wonder if cucumbers are good w/ cucumber sauce.,,

1/16/2008 9:06:33 AM
My grandmother used to put salt on my apples, but that's because she put it on pretty much anything she could. It was good, I thought, but not something I would be likely to do on my own.
1/16/2008 9:11:33 AM
apples and peanut butter!!
1/16/2008 9:12:25 AM
i think its pretty weird when people want to put a salty flavor on something sweet and juicy like fruit.....
1/16/2008 9:20:47 AM
apples and caramel dip FTW

I NEVER eat watermelon withut salt, and usually, not cantaloupe either. Sometimes though, cantaloupe is so good that it don't need salt.

The average intake in the United States is between 4,000 and 5,000 mg of sodium per day.The US sodium RDA of less than 2,400 mg is higher than the UK Recommended Nutritional Intake (RNI) whose upper limit for sodium is 1,600 mg.
1/16/2008 11:26:34 AM
no
1/16/2008 11:33:01 AM
thankfully, i don't take in that much salt...though the chili that's slowly cooking in the crock pot right now (done in 7 hours, baby!) probably has more than enough salt for my daily intake
1/16/2008 11:34:37 AM
1/16/2008 11:41:40 AM
eww.
1/16/2008 12:07:11 PM
I put peanuts in my soda. Something I learned from grandma.
1/16/2008 12:10:06 PM
haha, wow, I can't believe I am the only one on here that has done this. I figured it was more common.
1/16/2008 1:42:41 PM
Uh ... I said I've had it.
1/16/2008 1:46:25 PM
why were people so weirded out by salt on tomato?????? i guess i get the other things...apples etc. but i've known people to salt watermelon and cantaloupe (i don't). but definitely definitely tomatoes. i don't think salt on tomatoes is that strange???

1/16/2008 1:51:44 PM
fresh mozzarella cheese, slice of tomato, and balsamic also ftw (although it has nothing to do with salt really, except the cheese and dressing are pretty salty)
1/16/2008 1:52:51 PM
i very rarely put salt on anything
1/16/2008 1:58:27 PM
