If you have AAA coverage, you may be eligible to receive legal fee reimbursement. FYI.http://www.aaacarolinas.com/Membership/membershipcomparison.htm

^^^I'm gonna help you out so you don't have to sift through conflicting advice. Walk into court room (2A) if it's in Wake County, wait in line and when you reach the front the ADA will always ask you if you want to plead guilty in exchange for it being dropped to 9 over. This will have no impact on your insurance for your first ticket, you will just pay the fine and cc and be done with it. They get some money and you don't get fucked over with insuranceA lot of people will tell you to get a lawyer, but don't unless you're very busy/would lose a lot of money via pay, or have a test.[Edited on January 16, 2008 at 7:52 AM. and if for any reason the DA doesnt want to reduce it, tell him you want a continuance then get a lawyer and then ponder why he didnt reduce it.

actually 9 over the speed limit is only considered a warning in a speed zone of 45. A 75 in a 55 will be 2 pts on your insurance.56 in a 55 will be 2 pts on your insurance. This is the State Mandated Safe Driver Incentive Plan or SDIP points.

^wrong there are exemptions EXCEPTIONS: No points will be charged for: Speeding 10 mph or less over the posted speed limit provided that (1) the violation did not occur in a school zone; and (2) there is a clean driving record for the previous three years. See Page 2 of the Link.http://www.ncdoi.com/consumer/consumer_publications/automobile/safe%20driver%20incentive%20plan.pdf Therefore, there will be no insurance consequences since this is your first official ticket. I worked there for quite a while and this is why they reduce it to 9 over, especially on your first time.

I mean, should getting 20 over down to 9 be a big problem?

well he said he got a 9 over warning before, i didnt know if that was an actual ticket or a verbal warning. But he is correct ^^. It depends on the Da's mood really. It doesnt help that the News and observer did a one week special on how speeders get out of tickets this summer. Its been a lot harder to deal with them.

I got pulled by Raleigh PD on 401 headed towards downtown this past weekend. Hadn't been that way in awhile and I thought the speed limit was 55 -- especially considering that it's a major artery towards downtown.Anyway, speed limit was apparently 35; I was clocked doing 57. After a humorous amount of time trying to find my wallet amongst the piles of scuba gear in my car, the police officer took my license and registration to his car and came back in ~1 minute."You've got a clean record -- keep it clean. Have a nice morning!" I was completely astonished.Being polite and respectful when speaking with the police goes a long way. Thanks, Raleigh PD.[Edited on January 16, 2008 at 5:30 PM. Reason : ]
