Hey guys, I'm taking BCH 453 this semster. Any inputs? For those who took the course, did you use the textbook at all? Or did you study off her powerpoint notes. How are the exams btw? I'm interested in buying the textbook if any of you have it. Thank you.

there are like 4 teachers for this course...which one? if you have Hemenway you should read if she assigns anything and study her slides like hell....but make sure you take notes.

She can be a pain in class sometimes especially if you have a bunch of people talking, but she is very helpful outside of class. Don't wait until after the first test to get help if you need it. Her tests are harder than some of the other teachers and she doesn't really give you hints as to what she will test on. (unless she's changed her stuff....I took it spring of 06)

I wouldn't really judge it based on people who have had other teachers. Other BCH majors had totally different experiences with the course. She might be the hardest 453 teacher, but she is more than willing to help you if you're struggling. She is also a hard grader, but you can argue for points if you don't agree with her.

Each teacher is very different for this class. Maxwell's tests were very "application" oriented. Overall, the class isn't a really whole lot of new material, it's the stuff you've learned in BCH 451/455 and GN411, but in excruciating, painful detail.

Thank you for your inputs. Yes i do have Hemenway. She is a ver nice lady, but i don't like her powerpoint slides. What is the format of her exams? All short answer questions?

All short answer. Lots of 15-20 point questions.
