in the NBA this is pretty much worthless. they play how many games in a season? its not like college where every game is more important
1/11/2008 6:01:41 PM
^thats a joke right?
1/11/2008 6:05:31 PM
it could matter in playoff positioning since the Hawks are currently competing for a spot...I mean in baseball they play twice as many games as the NBA and they still need one-game playoffs sometimes

I wish they would have put what the score is going to be set at, if it was like a 111-110 game with 51 left its a big deal. If it was 117 to 106 then who cares.

I'm sure it will be really intense!

Shaq will pick up his 6th foul at the 51.2 mark
1/11/2008 7:16:19 PM
no. he'll be injured (just like the rest of the heat team) and the hawks will win, again.
1/11/2008 8:02:36 PM
why the hell did Atlanta get fined for a mistake on the part of the refs?

The Red Sox once played in a game that was suspended at a predetermined time by prior agreement. It followed three straight rainouts and was part of a morning doubleheader in which they knew in advance that they could only get so many innings into the second game before they or their opponent would have to catch a plane out of town. It basically reduced the amount of total innings that might have to be made up at the end of the season if they could possibly affect the division winner.I think the Red Sox were trailing at the time of the suspension, so their starter was on the hook for the loss if the lead was never given up, but the game hadn't gone five innings, and under the rules of that time, if a starter left a game before completing the fifth inning but his team never lost the lead, the winning pitcher would have been the pitcher who pitched the third out of the fifth inning. Before the remainder of the game was played, the losing pitcher of record got traded to the other team, so if the manager of the other team wanted to, he could have used that pitcher to pitch just the 3rd out of the fifth inning, thereby getting both the win and the loss. Unfortunately, that manager apparently didn't think that doing so would have been such a cool ideal and so it wasn't done. I once tried to figure out who the pitcher was, but the career records of the couple that I tried to check out didn't fit the circumstances as I remember them.I wonder what the NBA would do if Shaq had been traded to Atlanta. Could he play for Atlanta? How many fouls would he have on him?
