Everyone is all Bob Barker on my ass for not having my cat fixed yet. She's a female, so she doesn't mark her turf. She's an inside-only cat, so she's not gonna get knocked up.She gets a little randy and cuddly when she goes into heat, but nothing too obnoxious. So why exactly MUST I make my cat go through surgery?

Because who-knows-how-many so-called "inside-only cats" manage to get knocked upalso, I love hyphensSeriously, aside from the possibility of it getting out (which it will want to do when it's in heat), there's also the question of what would happen if you had to give up the cat for some reason

my friends g-paw used to hunt rabbits by way of stick...hed throw them at their front legs...fuckin hard ass....get your damn cat fixed....she may get out and get knocked up. Then youll have to post a "free to good home" thread in classifieds

She'll try her damndest to escape while in heat. Also, spaying reduces the risk of breast cancer and eliminates ovarian and uterine cancer risks.

cats get breast cancer?

She's not going to escape though. She is deathly afraid of outside and I've had her over a year and she's never tried it.It's not like I'm brand new to this shit.Still, everyone has the same reactions you guys have. Why?It's like we try so hard to convince the morons to get their cat fixed that let them just breed like crazy...that we blindly yell it at everyone with a cat.And with the cancer risks, etc...I've heard that getting your cat fixed also has some minor health risks.Cancer risk>surgery risk+money for surgery?[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 11:58 AM. it's hard to neuter a cat that doesn't have balls
1/10/2008 11:59:59 AM
Spay then. Why does everyone want to spay my cat?
1/10/2008 12:02:58 PM
how much does it cost to get a cat neutered?
1/10/2008 12:04:19 PM
More than you want to pay
1/10/2008 12:05:15 PM
$0.00
1/10/2008 12:06:37 PM
i don't want to spay your cat.i don't give a damn what you do with your cat. spread peanut butter on your balls and let it lick it off (IT'S YOUR CAT) for all i care.

You can buy a voucher from the SPCA on Tryon road for about $56 that will cover most of the costs of spaying, except for pain meds and such. I've done it with both my cats, and it's great. Check it out here: http://www.spcawake.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Spay_Neuter_mainpageYou have to make sure that the vet performing the surgery will accept the voucher, so check the list on the bottom of the page.

If people tell you to spay your cat, tell them to give you money to do it.

A)I do not live in Raleigh.B)The question is why do this to my cat?
1/10/2008 12:12:39 PM
I'm sure other rescue or humane groups in your area would offer the same deal. That is, if you decide it's right. I spayed my female cats to calm them down, in addition to reducing the risk of cancer.
1/10/2008 12:14:15 PM
haha, nobody here is going to spay her for you. tenaciousC has the right idea. even if not in Raleigh, maybe where you live there is a place that can do itoh, and tell your neighbors to mind their own business. unless she is popping out kittens, how do they know she is not fixed?]
1/10/2008 12:16:14 PM
Squirt could prolly do it--whether she would or not is another matter

There's also the risk of a uterine infection, which can often be deadly. It's called pyometra in dogs, not sure about cats.
