I think Shaq, Ben Wallace, Okafor and Dwight Howard all juice and thats one of the reasons they all shoot 50% from the line...also I think steroids in basketball are less prevalent than baseball or football, but they're definitely out therediscuss
1/8/2008 2:30:06 PM
wat?
1/8/2008 2:30:34 PM
just throwing the topic out there...i heard some rumors and shit about this or that, but i tried to think of the biggest ripped guys in the league, and the main 4 of them i came up with are really bad FT shooters...probably coincidence...or not
1/8/2008 2:34:26 PM
what do steroids have to do with FT percentage? That seems pretty closely related to hand eye coordination, and considering Barry Bonds, I don't think steroids hurt that very much.

^ great point

Yet the best golfer in the world is also probably on steroids[Edited on January 8, 2008 at 2:47 PM. Reason : fix]
1/8/2008 2:43:56 PM
Not sure what steroids have to do with FTs.
1/8/2008 2:44:30 PM
I don't doubt that steroids is used in basketball, especially by players like Wallace who have to guard people naturally much larger than they are. I would say Okafor too, but he has been injured so much that if he is using steroids he obviously isn't doing it right.Lebron James is also extemely ripped and buff, I wouldn't put it past him.I don't think it has anything to do with ft% though.
1/8/2008 2:50:13 PM
shaq sucked at free throws at LSU too'89-'90 - 56%'90-'91 - 64%'91-'92 - 53%http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/onealsh01.htmlI think he just sucks at FTs.
1/8/2008 2:50:33 PM
This guy on the radio brought up the idea of basketball and steriods, and his example was Dikembe Mutombu's increased play over the last few years.I laughed, hard.
1/8/2008 2:52:24 PM
shaq don't juice he's just fat. i think wallace uses roids in his fro
1/8/2008 2:53:11 PM
free throws are probably just coincidence but there are some ripped motherfuckers in the leaguelike these two bastards
1/8/2008 2:56:30 PM
Okafor wouldnt sit out 2/3rds of every season if he juiced.
1/8/2008 3:00:19 PM
maybe he just started juicing a couple years ago cause his 2nd year in the league is the only year where he missed any significant time...he missed probably 10-12 games a piece the other years
1/8/2008 3:03:05 PM
Goddammit I wish the Magic had drafted Emeka
1/8/2008 3:06:22 PM
every fucking day i wish that
1/8/2008 3:08:52 PM
It would be nice to watch Felton throw allies to Howard.
1/8/2008 3:20:21 PM
It would be nicer to watch Paul throw allies to Howard.
1/8/2008 3:24:07 PM
it would even be nice to watch that piece of garbage known as jeff mcinnis throw allies to howard
1/8/2008 3:24:47 PM
but how many 7 footers have been great free throw shooters? All time, some of the worst FT%'s have been from the center position.
1/8/2008 3:29:50 PM
honestly i think with somebody like shaq, his hands are just too damn bigsomebody like ben wallace probably just never practicesi do think big ben is juiced up though
1/8/2008 3:31:11 PM
Our starting 5 could and probably should be:5) Howard4) Wallace3) Roy2) Richardson1) PaulWow.
1/8/2008 3:34:15 PM
i wonder if we had drafted roy if we might not've made the J-Rich trade, but basically looking at that lineup is like looking at some chick that you couldve banged and now she's a hot ass movie star or something
1/8/2008 3:37:14 PM
People get too hung up on steroids for muscle mass building and ignore what a number of athletes would use it for (general maintenance/repair). What makes the pro level so demanding is the season-long grind. Steroids will help your body recover faster from the physical abuse of training and playing. You better believe basketball players are using it. Its the same reason why pitchers have more to gain than hitters in baseball.
1/8/2008 3:37:22 PM
but msb do you think steroid use happens less in basketball than say football, simply because while there is contact in basketball, it requires more finesse and touch in general than football? i mean i doubt most quarterbacks use roids compared to linemen, linebackers, etc[Edited on January 8, 2008 at 3:39 PM. Reason : .]
1/8/2008 3:38:23 PM
If we had Roy, Howard and Paul we wouldn't have had the 8th pick last year so the J rich trade never happensStill, with those 3 and Wallace we're already the 4-5 seed in the EastThe only teams definitively better would be Boston and Detroit
1/8/2008 3:40:02 PM
Of course... football has the highest steroid use of any sport. The amount of contact is not really a factor (I mean baseball has essentially zero contact and we know it is prevalent there). Finesse and touch in basketball isn't as much of a factor anymore for most players. It has become dominated be power, speed, and size (just like all the other sports). Of course lineman and linebackers would have the greatest steroid rate: size and strength are vital and they probably have the most demanding physical play of the other positions. RB is a position that I think has higher use than most realize.
1/8/2008 3:44:45 PM
well then its probably safe to say deshaun foster doesnt juice
1/8/2008 3:46:31 PM
Steroids are probably the only thing that keeps Magic Johnson healthy. Also, steroid use is suspected to be rampant in golf, so I doubt your theory about steroids hindering accuracy holds any merit. Hitting a 90mph slider probably requires every bit as much accuracy as it does to hit a golf ball standing still or to hit a free throw.[Edited on January 8, 2008 at 6:26 PM. Reason : ^if juice would limit his fumbles, he needs to get on it with a quickness]
1/8/2008 6:24:56 PM
i hate that we have felton. I think he'd be a great backup. ah shit. wrong threadbut really, I'm sure some nba players have used steroids to return from injury. Though basketball players do work out and condition, the idea of serious weight lifting doesnt seem like what most players would do. They'll tell you it fucks their game up. Shit, I know that's what every high school player will tell you. Obviously most NBA players have put some time in the gym and some of them (Ben Wallace, Dale Davis, Karl Malone,) obviously spent some time lifting iron. Basketball players seem to use a different type of strength and celebrate lean muscle.
1/9/2008 5:04:35 AM
motherfuckers, get it through your heads.....BRANDON ROY WOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED FOR CHARLOTTE.
1/9/2008 9:13:56 AM
I brought this up in the other thread. Athletes in EVERY sport are on steroids. Is it really that hard to believe? I mean, c'mon...
1/9/2008 9:45:20 AM
haha 50 Cent is juicing???? YOU DONT SAY

1/14/2008 3:31:18 PM
i wonder if Mary J was just selling them or something cause I don't know why a woman would take them if they weren't an athlete, or trying to recover from injury or something, just cause generally men can get away with looking like roided up freaks like 50 Cent a lot more than chicks can do it cause I for one don't really dig the female bodybuilder type
1/14/2008 3:33:23 PM
you know, cause it helps her singthis reminds me of those new Southwest commercials
