pretty sweet ass camera for a compact point-and-shoot.

Rated a 79/100 by consumer reports (top was an 82 for $500 more)

Product Features

* 8.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality 16 x 22-inch prints
* 3.0-inch LCD display; 10x Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization
* High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 3200) lets you shoot without flash in low-light conditions
* Face Detection technology (up to 8 faces); Advanced Sports Mode

Be jealous.

The only reason I don't own a Sony Camera is because I don't want to invest in their proprietary memory, when I already have plenty of SD and compactflash for other devices.

The price has finally came down drastically though at least. Although, I agree with you and it's been a reason for me not purchasing one as well.

everything has its price. i much prefer the sony point & shoot cameras to pretty much everything else. flash memory can be had for so cheap now i don't mind paying a little extra to be much happier with the camera.

yeah, if it were that substantial of a difference, i wouldn't mind, but I'd argue that the sony P&S cameras are only marginally better than the comparable Canons.

I paid $260 for the camera and $40 for a 4GB memory stick. The price on the memory stick was inconsequential enough.

It shoots fantastic pictures, even on the move (shot some from my car in downtown raleigh going ~25mph) no motion blur.

It has nice settings for advanced users, custom aperture speeds, iso settings for lighting, etc... lots of features packed into the price... even has a face recognition as to not overexpose faces.

I would recommend (and so would consumer reports).

Being a novice, I didn't know which were better. So I subscribed to Consumer reports, and the sony's beat out every other model for compact and subcompact cameras. The sony's were often cheaper as well. That's why I went sony.

They also use proprietary lithium ion batteries... good and bad. Last longer than some AAs and are rechargable, but AAs are abundant.

Oh and it packs a 10x OPTICAL zoom... NICE for a compact camera.

I got the Sony DSC T-100 for Christmas with a 4gb card.

Its amazing and exactly what i wanted. Ultra compact, 8mp, takes excellent pictures, and AMAZING pictures in low-light compared to any non-sly.

Also takes dvd quality video and audio.

most cameras now have waterproof housings.

The T100 i got uses the Sony Marine Pack, and is watertight to 132ft

^^ It's not to be seen on that scale. The absolute best camera in its class was an 82. If you've never used consumer reports before, then you don't understand it's scale. If graded on a curve, it would been an A+.

If something gets 100 on consumer reports, it means you buy it.

But it's not like a multiple choice math test where 100 is right on every answer. It's a relative scale.
