I just downloaded some videos and cant hear any audio from them. Im running windows media player. Anyone know any solutions? I know the audio bit rate is 192kbps and the file is a .avi, I dont know if either of that matters.

You can try getting VLC player, its free and can play pretty much anything out there. That's what I use when Windows Media Player won't play a file.

for future reference for everyone: k-lite mega codec pack.if k-lite doesn't have it, it's not worth watching/hearing: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

dont use codec packs. All you're gonna do is cluter your system with shit codecs. You dont need 3 things to watch divx you dont need 5 mkv splitters. All its gonna do is cause problems.Figure out what codec you need with something like gspot codec info and then download 1 codec to match it. For example for divx decoding get the divx codec. Fuck xvid they dont make the standard, divx does. Fuck 3vix its a piece of shit. For AC3 get AC3 filter. For aac get coreAACAbout the only codec pack worth looking at is FFDshow. And then you only want to install the h264 or whatever codec and none of the others in the pack.

clutter my system with...all of 30mb? i mean, you can choose not to install certain codecs, but i've never experience ANY problems with k-lite, and i've never heard of anyone experiencing any problems, so while that might be a good rule to follow if you don't use your computer for multimedia, i don't think it's very valid in this case...it's obvious this user (probably a good representation of the average user) doesn't know much about codecs and such, so why not go ahead and install all the ones you'll need in one hassle-free, proven step?

yeah it doesn't seem like all that effort is worth saving a few megs of HDD space.
