I am biased I will admit, but McCarthey from Green Bay gets my nod...although it wouldn't bother me if Gibbs got it...

in all seriousness, i don't understand how this could even be up for discussion when you have a coach take his team to 16-0.

phishnlou - I truly believe he is a good coach Belichek (sp) but you put him at Green Bay, Jacksonville, or the Redskins and I don't they would have done as well....the guy from the Browns should get some votes too now that I think of it

conversely, Put McCarthey or Gibbs at New England, do they go 16-0? Probably not.

I think even you n00b could guide that team to 16 - 0.....but seriously that is more about chemistry then it was him being some great coach.....take Moss out of the equation and they would prob lose 3 or 4 games that they won in my opinion.

exactly, he put that team together. If you gave him this years Dolphins they wouldn't go 16-0. He should be coach of the year and he probably will be.

Just because he isn't popular doesn't mean he doesn't deserve coach of the year (first person ever to a coach a team to 16-0 seems like a no brainer to me).

newb.

16-0 = coach of the year
Doesn't matter if Kevin Everett came back and coached the Bills into first place. This, Rookie of the Year, and MVP should all be unanimous.

also, you can't just hypothetically take players off the team to try and prove a point that a non 16-0 coach should win coach of the year, n00b.

If I had a vote, it would be for Joe Thomas and Randy Moss, respectively.

I don't think Grant counts as a rookie

even though he didn't play last year

it doesnt work like baseball

even so, Peterson and Thomas were more deserving

I thought Peterson deserved ROY as soon as I saw he got 296 yards in a single game.

Don't see how that's relevant, he still outperformed sean taylor's 16 games in only 12 games.

they don't have a just plain "ROY" award like they do "MVP" do they?

And ^ is definitely defensive ROY.

they have both offensive and defensive

and Willis wins hands down...should be unanimous

However, if anyone steals any votes, it'll be Jon Beason

you mean jason taylor?

merriman had more sacks (3.5 more) and tackles (1), taylor had 1 more interception, 5 more forced fumbles, 2 more TDs, and 3 more pass deflections

i'd give the slight edge to taylor, statistically

and san diego won the four games merriman was suspended, so i guess he wasn't that valuable

--

also, wikipedia says mario williams won the 2007 DPOY award

Jason, Sean, whatever

Jason Taylor might as well be dead for the impact he has had this year.

I hate to admit it....but Ernie is correct :-) And I don't think it is a slam dunk he will win it..(Belichek)
..I think the writers don't like him cause he doesn't talk to the press much....and then there is the whole cheating thing.....not sure it is the slam dunk everyone thinks it is that he will win...

i don't think there's any media bias against belichick

it's a slam dunk

I dont know... did Belicheat actually COACH better than previous years? or did he just have better players around... I could see McCarthy getting it

^ he physically talks yes, but hes a shitty shitty interview, media people hate talking to him

it doesn't matter if he did better than previous years

he did a better job than every other coach this year

that's what the award is about

though i'd love to see it go to mccarthy

and is there any evidence of AP writers hating belichick or is this just conjecture?

Yeah he was the coach who took a chance on Randy Moss for a 4th round draft pick, and it paid off big. Coach of the year, SLAM DUNK.

but he did a great job building this team and did something no coach has ever done

that's a slam dunk if there ever was one

^^ no, that would be stupid because he is a player, not a coach. I am just saying that pure coaching job, as in getting your players to do what they couldnt do without you I dont know if he wins it. I dont think he is suddenly a badass coach this year, he always has been, so the fact that he has better players now which = better record doesnt mean hes suddenly figured out how to coach. As for McCarthy... he did a LOT with a team no one expected to do shit

i think mccarthy did a bang-up job but no one did better in terms of player personnel or on the field coaching this year than belichick

that's my opinion, at least

his biggest pick up was Randy Moss which many teams didn't want to take a chance on given his history. He took that chance this year, it paid off big. I think you just like to argue.

A. Thomas, Welker, and Stallworth are also pretty big pick ups.

But I do agree this piece of shit Belichick should win
