You have to buy an admission button to participate in the First Night Raleigh events.
Or you can find a tv and watch it on WRAL or WTVD (split screen with the NYC ball drop)

It used to be free. We'd just walk up at least. I think the last time I went was around 2002 or 2003. That is weak.

They usually have a decent band playing a bunch of popular songs.
40,000 people standing around in the cold.
Crowd watching.
Etc.

I mean, it's not the worst thing in the world. It's probably better than going to Hi5 or something. Of course, that doesn't say much.
