The odds are heavily agaisnt you. Just go ahead, scratch that idea, and come up with a new one. You'll end up giving up in a few weeks, anyway. Only, this way, you don't get in my fucking way.

If by some off chance you stick with it, good for you.

I've never thought New York was really into fitness. She seemed to have some lbs. on her.

The problem is that people set goals that are result oriented.

The trick to setting goals and achieving them is to make goals that are step by step and behavior oriented.

goals need to be SMART

Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timely

short term goals are usually best for this sort of thing...ex: I want to lose 5 lbs this month

start small and once you develop the habit (usually after 2-3 consistent weeks of doing something) you should be good

glad I don't work out at NCSU anymore...the New Year's rush always sucks

I'm dreading today's work-out. I go to the YMCA on hillsborough, so I already know that it's going to be packed with stepford wives standing around the machines talking and getting in my way. Hopefully it will only be bad for a couple weeks.

you don't use the lat pulldown? or any cable rows? get your head out of your ass

I don't use machines either, but I wouldn't mind doing some cable crossovers without having to wait for six women standing around doing tri's for 45 minutes

lat pulldowns...how about ring pullups/chins, regular pullups/chins, weighted pullups/chins, FUCK even negative pullups or assisted are better than that garbage

and cable rows??

how about T-Bar rows, BO Rows, Deadlifts, etc.

freeweights FTW, EVERYTIME

you didn't answer my question. you never use the lat pulldown? never do cable crossovers? never do the low rows with cables? I mean, it's fine if you don't, but I don't see how those could be considered "pussy" exercises

BTW, I use 80% free weights, but the cables are a great way to switch things up.

who said they were "pussy" exercises

they just aren't as effective as their free weight and/or compound counterparts

[Edited on January 2, 2008 at 10:16 AM. Reason : oh ok arcgreek said machines were for pussies]

Free weights are for wusses.

I train by doing an obstacle course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VG5_diRx4U

Yeah, the first one looks easy, but I've seen tons of people mess up on it.

The third stage looks impossible

sure the odds are against them continuing . . . but any exercise they get in the short term is better than no exercise at all
