Need to quit, it's causing me some really bad problems lately.

Tried the patch, burnt a hole in my skin for some reason. The irritation just got too severe.

No cash for any fancy stuff though. >.<

Yeah, it's either smoking or sucking on penises.

I'd go for the latter of they were available.

AHEM.

I don't wanna quit. That being said, my options are limited so pick a day and we'll fire up the last one.

12 posts and no one has suggested that someone else, other than themselves quit smoking?

wow, I'm impressed

I fully support everyone's efforts to voluntarily quit smoking, should they want to

however, the second you say "you should quit too", I hope you fail and die of cancer

you are welcome to think "you should quit too" to yourself

or if someone directly asks you "hey should I quit?" you may answer honestly

but the controversy surrounding the allegations of public health socialist nanny-state bullshit

makes the disrespectful anti-smoking agenda fail, not to mention backfire

the audience of this thread isn't your spouse, child, or parent, so let's try to keep it free of anti-smoking nazism

that said, I would also like to remind smokers that it's possible to smoke without being addicted

perhaps not everyone is capable of this (we are not created equal, sorry)

but I only smoke 1-10 cigarettes per MONTH -- without ANY cravings

that breaks down to 0-3 cigs per week, or about 3-4 packs PER YEAR

which begs the question, "am I a smoker?"

I contend that I'm not, although I can certainly see how some may consider me to be one

for what it's worth, here's my advice (trust me, this is really good advice)

1) give up brand loyalty. (this is tough, but so is quitting altogether; it's all about "baby steps")

2) make a mental log of your smoking (1 in the car ride to work, 1 before and after dinner, 1 after sex, etc.)

3) do not tell your friends and family, "hey, I'm gonna quit!!!" It's none of their business. It's your personal issue

4) IMPORTANT: do not use [nicotine] gum, pills, patches, or drugs. some herbs are ok, if helpful, and hypnosis is fine

5) do not discontinue or reduce the time you spend at bars, with friends that smoke, or other alleged "temptations"

6) carry an unopened pack on your person (with matches) at all times. (see #5)

7) IMPORTANT: do not become discouraged if you don't completely quit right away; it takes time

8) OPTIONAL: consume entheogens in a controlled and safe environment, and envision yourself not smoking

9) do not hold an opinion that people (perhaps other than your family) shouldn't smoke. that's not your concern

10) don't set the goal of quitting completely until you are as "unaddicted" as I am, as described above (< 1/2 pack/month)

good luck!!!

Confirmed cigarette junkies won't preach that other ppl should quit. That's a job for the militant type of non smoker

I used the Silk Quit meter, it's tough at first but gets easier. It helped me actually seeing progress, life saved, and money saved.

I have a tournament to shoot in this Saturday. I'm pretty sure I will smoke that day. Other than that I guess I'm ready as I'll ever be.

OK, so four days after "quit time", I notice that my job is a huge hindrance in my goal. Driving long distances, at night, leaves very little other to do. At home, it's not nearly as much of a problem. Chantix seems to be woth it so far, considering how many cigs I put away prior to the 19th.

No nausea so far but there is still a craving...tho not completely overwhelming
