Here's some of the early prospects for 2009.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=9&c=4&yr=2009Of them here's who we've offered so far.*'s Pos Name Schools Interested4* WLB Kevin Minter (Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Virginia)4* S Devonte Holloman (Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Virginia)4* OT Xavier Nixon (Clemson, Florida, Miami (Fl), North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Tennessee)4* OT Eric Shrive (Illinois, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse)4* QB Tom Savage (Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Miami (Fl), Michigan, North Carolina State, Rutgers)1* RB Desmond Scott (Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Tennessee)1* DE Donte Moss (North Carolina State, East Carolina, North Carolina)1* MLB Glenn Carson (Boston College, Maryland, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers)1* SLB C.J. Mizell (Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina State, South Carolina)I suspect Donte Moss to be one of our first commitments. Just a hunch. Hopefully Mario Carter can convince his teammate Devonte Holloman to come to State. Also I hope we've gotten in with Desmond Scott early enough. He has a really nice offer list. I'm sure he won't be anything less than a 4* RB on Scout. He's a 4* on Rivals. Here are the schools that have offered him according to Scout. AlabamaClemson GeorgiaNorth Carolina North Carolina State South CarolinaTennesseeRivals also list Florida and Virginia on schools interested. Don't know if they've offered though.

Glennon and Barnes on going to be playing on ABC in the Under Armour AA game at 2pm this saturday if anyone wants to check them out.Glennon"Possibly the best pure pocket passer this class has to offer. In the right scheme, he can sit and pick defenses apart. Huge pick-up for NC State"Barnes"Another Joe McKnight type and arguably the fastest player in North Carolina. Can do it all -- run, catch, play defense and is an exciting kick returner."

New Top 40 NC HS Players for the Class of 2008 was released.http://recruiting.scout.com/3/2008_North_Carolina.htmlOf note is that Manning took over the top spot and Barnes dropped to the #5 spot. State has 8 commits in the top 27, two of those being the in the top 5, but originally top 2 (Barnes and Manning). UNC has one commit, Braden Hanson (who sucks), and he is #10. It'll be interesting to see where E.J. Abrams-Ward (#2), R.J. Mattes (#4), Spencer Adams (#7), and Kevin Reddick (#8) choose to go.[Edited on December 31, 2007 at 4:34 PM. Reason : ]

^ I'll guess Reddick goes to Carolina as does Abrams-Ward. Adams will end up at Florida and Mattes goes to Tennesee. Of course these are all guesses. Hope I'm wrong about Reddick and Abrams-Ward. Mattes as well. I'd like to have Adams, but I just don't get the impression that he's high on any of the in-state schools.
12/31/2007 4:42:02 PM
I'd like to see Mattes come here, and while I'd like to get the others, I would just rather see them go to out of state schools, preferably ones not in the ACC, than Carolina.

http://wral.com/sports/prepsports/story/2370250/Leesville halfback and defensive back Zach Greene, a junior, is also making recruiting headlines this week. Coach Green told WRAL on Tuesday that Greene received an offer from Tom O'Brien and the N.C. State Wolfpack on Monday.Greene recorded 48 tackles and three interceptions during his junior season, but he was also capable of playing on the offensive side of the ball.In 15 games, Greene ran for 110 yards and one touchdown, but he also caught 45 passes for 704 yards and eight touchdowns. Greene also ran a punt return back for a touchdown in 2007.With one year of eligibility remaining at Leesville Road, Greene has already posted All-Conference honors in his last two seasons. There's a vid on this page of him catching the ball off of a hook and ladder and taking it to the house.http://tinyurl.com/25dk5uhttp://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=67009&sport=1Schools InterestedClemsonNorth CarolinaNC StateSouth CarolinaThere is a highlight video of Greene on his Rivals page that you can see.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 8:39 PM. He will more than likely be a game changer and probably end up being one of those "impact players" on the NCAA Football 20** when he's an upperclassman. Apparently Independence's coach, Tom Knotts, likes TOB, and we've already gotten some in-roads there as evident by getting Mario Carter out of there. They say that Holloman would also like to major in engineering so we've got that going for us. Reel em' in Tom! Next year is when TOB builds a wall around this state and fends off Clemson, VT, UVA, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, FSU, Florida, etc. from stealing the state's best players away.

I'd love to get Holloman and Nixon, but everything I've seen suggests we have a lot of work to do to get either. It always seems the top OL from NC jumps to the SEC, so I don't have a good feeling about Nixon though I'd absolutely love to get the top OL recruit in the nation. And Holloman's Scout profile has 3 teams at high interest and we're not one of them, but you can rarely trust those. I think Carter needs to get in his ear for State, get us a solid pipeline into Independence High.
2/7/2008 3:30:52 PM
^ We have a very good chance with Nixon. I believe his parents are big Pack fans if I'm not mistaken. It'll be tough to get the Independence kid. There are exceptions, like Carter, but most of those kids go to the SEC and remember that Columbia/Clemson are both closer than UNC/State to Charlotte[Edited on February 7, 2008 at 3:33 PM. Haha, nah I just said that b/c based on what I've read and heard I think Holloman will end up being one of those really hyped players that the media and play-by-play people will talk about a lot. Usually when EA rates the players on the video game they like to go along with the hype.

ah yes, a joke of a player, all those recruiting experts were dead wrong on him... you are correct. They didnt have him as a "joke", they had him average! horrible! no wait, they had him better than average! no, wait they had him #1! how wrong of them!not sure why you are down on NC players, I think they have been doing a good job, but whatever, apparently you think NC HS sucks apparently[Edited on February 8, 2008 at 4:38 PM. 2/8/2008 4:38:06 PM
no, just tell me where hes gonna play? Lots of schools were recruiting him as a WR, a position which hes never played, all because he said he wants to play it.He's rated as a LB, but i heard he looked out of position at the Shrine Bowl playing LB. Thats why I'm saying you better put him on the DL. I'm not questioning his athleticism. I'm questioning him as a football player.
2/8/2008 4:47:58 PM
I am sure they will find a place for him... I would rather have him a worry about where to play him than not even have him at all
2/8/2008 5:44:30 PM
maybe i saw a bad picture, but EJAW looked skinny as a rail when i saw him. i always wondered where they would stick him. apparently his speed is only average
2/8/2008 6:00:29 PM
yeah, he ran a 4.56, but speed is the one thing we have plenty of, I really hope they keep him as a possession WR, we need a tall body down near the goal line
2/8/2008 6:02:19 PM
it's true though, all the NC players haven't done shit at TN. The last one that actually done anything was Heath Shuler.
