I know a woman who has cats with that same exact problem, or they look the same. Their eyes start oozing mucus and pus, and eventually blood. They pop one at a time and eventually all the cats are blinded. Just keep him away from the other cats because it's contageous - and take him to the vet...

that looks like Ashes old cat, disease and all

LOL... it looks like someone nutted in his eye in that first pic!

we know it's contagious, but when people actually MANAGE the eye infections, ulcerations leading to blindness are a lot rarer. unfortunately, he's already been exposed to our other cats. we've had him for nearly a month, and had him quarantined for the first week or two. there's no point in getting rid of him at this point (and honestly, we love this old guy), so we're keeping him on lysine to minimize viral shedding and treating his eye infection. worst case scenario- we end up with multiple cats on medications. oh well.

jek-jek with gimpy paws and gloopy eyessounds like a blast

yeah, jinx is already sneezing. i picked up a bottle of 250 lysine tablets this afternoon. i don't think they'll mind taking it, as long as i grind it up and put it in moist food.

haha gross
12/30/2007 2:57:13 PM
is it cross contagious to humans?
12/30/2007 2:57:54 PM
nope, cats only. all my other cats have their FVRCP vaccines, so i can hope that some will resist infection. poor jinxy wasn't so lucky, but he's just got the sniffles.
