eat fruit or take some vitamin C supplements

my mom actually swears on this medicine called "airborne". I dont know what its supposed to be used for, but she said everytime she starts to catch a cold she takes one of those and feels better soon thereafter

I started coughing Tuesday night, had a tingly throat yesterday, coughed some last night and today... I could not get out of bed to go hunting this morning (that's a first). I don't know what I have, but I know that it is because I have not gotten enough sleep since the week before exams started. I am overworked.

My husband was sick with a sore throat, sneezing, and sinus congestion for 3 weeks before he would go to the doctor. They gave him antibiotics and a steroidal nose spray and he finally cleared up after 3 days of meds.

Two weeks ago, I started with a sore throat and sinus congestion. After about a week of it, I saw my OB/GYN and asked her to take a look at it. I really expected to get my usual round of meds to knock it out because I get this yuck a couple times a year. She decided that it was viral and sent me home without anything. It's been another week and it is just getting worse -- nasty things happen every time I irrigate my sinuses. I think that today I'm going to hit up Urgent Care to see about finally getting this taken care of.

I think that there is some kind of nasty virus that is going around and it's turning into a sinus infection for those of us who are extremely prone to them.

Edit: Airborne didn't keep me from getting sick, but it does feel good to my sore throat. And the Mucinex-D worked great, but kept me all jazzed up from the pseudophed.

ewww. i had this yucky thing right before christmas for like a week and a half. first it was a cold then it like turned to flu like symptoms (body aches chills small fever etc) then it ended with just the cold symptoms and now its just a stuffy nose in the morning after 2 weeks. but it wasn't very fun. better than last year though. last year i got an upper respiratory infection coupled with the actual flu on my annual snowboarding/drinking trip to snowshoe. it was negative amounts of fun.

i don't know why but mucinex TOTALLY upsets my stomach. it makes me feel even worse because then my stomach just kills. i guess it kind of helps with the cough but for me i don't know if it is worth it. it makes me feel like death.

I got it a week and a half ago, but got the body aches, migraines, and dizziness all in the first day. Couldn't even pick up shit at work that I could easily toss. The next few days I had right ear fluid build up from sinus congestion, then I lost my voice for a day. Most of the time its just been this godamn cough, I cant shake it. Gone through 3 bottles of cough sizurp and in various bags of cough drops. It's always the worst when I lie down at night. Got so bad at one point from coughing for a minute straight, my abs spasmed so hard I threw up. I'd say a its gonna be close to two weeks for me before its clear.

^ damn dude that blows
for you people:
Mucinex is good if you have alot of chest congestion
Nyquil or codeine cough syrup
drink some hot tea with honey in it and that will soothe your throat too... They have this hot tea at the grocery store called Throat Coat (haha) that I like a whole lot.
Lots of OJ!!!
Get lots of sleep
Use a humidifier or take a hot bath

Well, i've tried mucinex, and it does a great job and clearing me up, but it also dehydrates me and makes me a lil loopy (i took one the other after noon and went to saucer at night... drank 6 beers and 6 glasses of water before i had any urger to go to the bathroom )

and unfortunately, i think i have passed whatever it is i have on to someone else which could make for a not so fun NYE- but, on the plus side, my voice has returned

the nights that i haven't drank, i felt the exact same way as i did on nights that i did drink

but i guess i have been drinking a glass of water for ever 2~ish beers i drink so dehydration hasn't really been an issue

Well if you have an infection then antibiotics are the only help...unless its viral of course.

i get them pretty regularly

things that help prevent them

1 get a humidifier keep house around 50%rh
2 saline rinse
3 WASH YOUR HANDS MORE

no shit.. i've avoided them altogether this year.

Pretty much exactly what happened to me. Started off with cold symptoms, 4 days later the cold symptoms are gone but I have a full blown sinus infection, a few days after that my throat is so swollen my ears are ringing, then the violent coughing.

All the symptoms have cleared except for occasional coughing fits and the sore throat. At least I an function like this despite it being fairly unpleasant. If any of you get sick for more than two days go ahead and go to the dr because you are probably gonna need some antibiotics to beat it. Trying to do it with over the counter stuff and immunity boosters is just gonna prolong the suffering.
