I'm trying to figure out how to get my ipod touch to be recognized by my itunes....my laptop is old as dirt, so i'm thinking that the USB port may not be the correct version. where can you update ports or something?? Thanks

most USB devices if not all are backwards compatible to older USB. Could be a power issue.. How many USB ports do you have on this laptop? Do you have another laptop or PC to try the ipod on?

^^ ROFLOL. Your old-as-dirt laptop probably has USB 1.1. You can not 'upgrade' it's existing ports, but you can add more ports using a USB 2.0 pcmcia adapter. The message you get when you attach your device ("This device can perform faster... blah blah blah... connect to USB 2.0... blah blah blah") does NOT mean that is the cause of your problem. In fact, this is likely NOT the cause of your problem. It just means your data transfer rates will be reduced by a factor of 10-100.
