Then there was the Cary water incident with the "recycled" water going in to homes for drinking water.

There are others but I cant think of all of them right now.

Everytime anywhere in NC is on top of CNN or Fox News its some hick backwoods sounding story.

After watching Days of Thunder anyone from up north probably thinks NC is nothing but a rural, bud drinking, nascar watching, group of imbred country folk.

Hell the opening scene is captioned "Charlotte, NC" and is a scene from a corn field. I do not know what the movie producers confused Charlotte for but nearly every corn field in Mecklenburg county is bulldozed into a CVS or a suburban development by this point.

Talking about fucked up NC news, just remember the last time that PETAs folks in NC were in the news was them dumping hundreds of pets in Ahoskie at the Belks shopping center because THEY euthanized them in the back of a truck after claiming they were taking them to Norfolk to adopt them out.

Pigs are mean, smelly, and generally nasty animals. Ones for slaughter are bred for meat production and not friendliness.

I'd not harm one for fun, but all I'm saying is that if one had part of my body in it's mouth my primary concern would be getting away from that thing, which might involve an element of pain/surprise to get it to release.

^ If you watch the video it sounds like the guy tried to punish the pig by cutting it's nose. I could be wrong, but I don't think he was just trying to get away from it. "Getting revenge" on a stupid animal like that is immature and wrong.

Pigs and hogs are mean as crap though. My grandparents raised hogs and they could do some damage. I've heard a lot of stories about them killing people or knocking them down and breaking bones. I can remember slaughter day as a kid and it was nothing like you see in the video. There is usually a big difference between small farms and big animal production houses.

I'm not wasting my time watching the PETA video because they are a bunch of lying cocksuckers.

I'm just saying that pigs are mean and in a me vs pig situation I'd do whatever needed to make sure I was not hurt. Peta idiots think you can make soothing sounds and the pig will suddenly let go, become completely docile, and you can both live in harmony or other such BS.

it's not a slaughterhouse. there's not one in Garland. There are some small ones around where individuals take animals to get them processed, but the only large ones are the Smithfield plant in Tar Heel and the Lundy's plant in Clinton. They said in the article that these hogs went to Smithfield. these were people working on a confinement hog farm that got taped by a PETA agent. They were being too rough on those sows and the guy shouldn't have hit one, but the whole mess about castrating them and docking tails without anesthesia is ridiculous. Nobody in the world uses anesthesia or pain killers to castrate a farm animal (well, maybe horse people who spend a lot of money on their animals). They squeal a little when you do it, but go right back to eating when you finish. they don't cut the snouts off. they use a tool that wraps around the snout to lead the hog, but in this video they weren't being successful. The reason they had "kill" on them is because they had something wrong with them and that's how they identify culls. I don't understand, though why they kept dragging them by the snout instead of getting somebody else behind them and shocking them a little bit. It seems like that would have moved them on out without having to pull on them as hard. They were being too rough on the hogs, but this was not something worthy of national news.
