yeah, i was very suprised it fit. the roof is actually more narrow than the bug. i had to put some spacers where the knobs are.

so the hella lights that i made a thread about are gonna go either on the rack. or in front.

some quick photochops (im only gonna put two lights on, not 4)

id have to say. its pretty tight on there. after a few trips i had to tighten it up. but i think it will stay.

it was kind of tricky lining it up evenly on the car. i can shake the whole car if i use just the rack.

i put it to the test the other day when i carried a not so big heater on it. i was going to do a battery, but didnt wanna take the chances of anything breaking.

my overall plan is putting my spare tire up there with my jack and a tank of gas. i had bungy cords on it, but i dont want them getting weathered.

i might polish up the aluminum. maybe ill tack weld this on the hood

haha. before i clicked the thread, and re-read over the title i figured out what you were talking about.



well i need to figure out some measurements. or if we meet up you can just figure it out and find the best way to mount it. i think the ones that come with the bike racks come with the hardware to mount them on the rack and mayhaps to mount them somewhere on the roof to keep the slant

I got that rack for $8 at the thrift store. I didn't buy it for that car, but there was only one way to get it home and I left it on there for about a month because it was so sweet looking. It whistles really loudly at 55MPH though.

haha.

yeah i sprayed it black with spray paint. then i picked up some actual auto paint from work.
i was ready to spray and all but i got water into the spray gun on the top half of the hood.

you can see it but i wiped it all off with a rag so you can see like streak marks from a rag all over the top of the hood. haha. talk about a NGR job.

i pulled a little dent on the front corner (you can see the rust). so my next deal is to just spray it red.
