Today I managed to get this error message:

Quote :
"Error, (in RootOf) index should be a positive integer less than 1"

Oh Maple, I love it when you talk dirty.

Matlab can lick my harry balls!

thing wants $texas$ to use it and I can't even install the POC on my computer.

Fuck that, I can type factor(exp,x) just as well as I can highlight x, right click and click "factor". At least that way I'll get a decent error message instead of the same machine dressed up with less functionality.

It's not the software that's a POC

but yea I see what you're saying about the "ease of use" thing. But once you go Matlab, you can't ever go back.

BTW if I want to do simple factor() w/ symbolic functions, Mathematica still >> Maple

See, the problems that I have are with the mathematics. I doubt switching to any of the other two would fix these blatant errors.

Maple, please die.

Description of quote: Define one function with n in it. Then make a procedure that substitutes n into an expression. Run procedure, n=5 is substituted. Then repeat with another function. No substitution is made.

'get it'

the quotes do not delay calculation and you will be stuck with an expression with unsolved for variables with no idea what's going on.

Only one person ever has done the maple assignments. Then he just shared it with everyone else. It was passed down throughout the years.

And if you determine the rate of change in this curve correctly, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Derivative dy = 3r^2/3, or r^2 dr, or r dr r.

Har-de-har-har, get it?"
