Ok all you mac users, if i wanted to get my first mac, what model would you suggest? What would be a good price range? Where's the best place to buy?

Wait a month for the new models to come out @ Macworld San Francisco, then stalk the NCSU Bookstore for an older model at discount.

As for what type to get, that really depends on what you want to do in terms of regular use. I've got a Mac mini and a MacBook Pro for different uses

Agreed on the wait. Macworld is right around the corner and something in the laptop line will be new. Scour the used market them.

Best place to buy? I'd say get an old model @ the NCSU bookstore as ^ suggested. eBay prices for Mac items are FAR too high (good for when you sell).

Can't go wrong w/ the MacBook or MacBook Pro.

are the bookstore prices really that good? I mean that much cheaper than anywhere else?

I just want one for everyday use, no gaming or anything like that.
