12/17/2007 10:14:23 PM
yo so whats like the lowest "decent" gpa? lol
12/17/2007 11:54:42 PM
2.5 is the lowest acceptable.[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 12:36 AM. Reason : 5]
12/18/2007 12:36:09 AM
After a few years after graduationg no one can really access it so its just a number ytou need right out of school/
12/18/2007 11:19:00 AM
with a gpa <2.5 you best look into starting your own lawn business
12/18/2007 11:26:40 AM
you were better off saving $20K and spending it on blow and the bars
12/18/2007 12:39:29 PM
naw, but for really, you can work that thang, you just have to know how to market yourself.
12/18/2007 12:53:13 PM
you go below 3.0 in my college and you're on academic probation.
12/18/2007 1:14:01 PM
yeah, its that way for all graduate programs
12/18/2007 1:29:58 PM
12/18/2007 1:35:01 PM
depends on the major Im pretty sure. I graduated with a shit GPA and am make 60k first year out of school(undergrad mechanical). more than any 4.0 kid I went to school with
12/18/2007 1:38:34 PM
i meant graduate programs within the CALS college

i feel like it is pretty easy to get a decent gpa, i bearly try, do what i need to do, which isnt much, and i have above a 3.5 gpa. i know engineering school and others like it is a lot different, but getting below an A in some classes that are really intended to boost your gpa is a joke.
12/18/2007 2:25:45 PM
its is a number, and it ain't a number. it all depends on you, and a case by case basis. however, you can't dispute that a low gpa is just as good as a high gpa. with that said, i have seen people with lower gpas get jobs WAY faster than people with high gpas right out of school, and the people with the higher gpas tend to go to grad not because they are better, but because they could not find a job right out of college. now what you know about makes 50 gs off the bat (with mad benefits) with a shit gpa ncsu919, and then you go to grad school for 5 years, and start out making no more than i did, and by the time you get there i will be making WAY more money (than i am making now)? ^whats my job then? apparently you know more about what my profession and job title and salary will all be. you must be the only one to get more than the average person starting out?[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 3:49 PM. Reason : .]

im only a junior right now but from what ive seen of grad. school in my major isnt anything impressive. i took st 435 this past fall and it was combined with grad students in 535. There only thing different that they were required to do were atmost 1 extra question on hw assignments and on the tests 1 extra question that everyone in the class, non-grad included also knew the answers. In addition their scores were out of 110, unlike the normal 100 scale. Dont know if it is like this in other grad. classes, but something to point out.
12/21/2007 9:26:35 AM
i was in a split undergrad/grad class like that, but the grad students had to write one interim paper and one final paper, which the final paper was the grade for the class for them. this was pretty intense from what i saw. this was in biotechnology btw.
12/21/2007 1:19:26 PM
velez75, the 4.0 kids did not hang out with you(thus why they got that 4.0), also, they are your boss. They make 120k.
12/21/2007 3:59:11 PM
u are dumb

Roddy, actually I did have plenty of friends with 4.0's and no they aren't my boss, they are making 45-50k a year, if they're lucky. and I actually make more tha 60k a year, thats my base, you'll be hard pressed to make more than that with any 4 yr degree no matter your GPA. but thats neither here nor there. I was simply making the point that a crappy GPA doesnt mean youre not going to be able to find a decent paying job.[Edited on January 4, 2008 at 11:37 AM. Reason : forgot something]

i didnt know you could have under 3.0 GPA in grad school and not be on probabtion.getting a C in a grad class is about as bad as it gets. it might as well be an F.

Grad school GPA? Why does this matter? In grad school, you are to work toward what we like to call "maximum efficiency". That is to say that if you get better than a B average, your advisor will walk into your office and say "you're working too hard in the classes, spend more time on your research." If you get less that a B average, the opposite is true, and (s)he will come in and say "you need to spend more time in classes." The only way to avoid the advisor tongue-lashing is by maintaining a B average.I learned everything I know by reading Ph.D. Comics:http://www.phdcomics.com/comics.php
