I've been to over a dozen weddings as an apprentice photographer and two of my own gigs, and the only time I've ever been openly offered cake, in advance no less, was by a client I just met tonight. She literally told me that I am not expected to pull my weight all night and that she'd like me to enjoy the cake and music.

Muslims rawk! If they have leftovers I might even take a slice home to mom.

They have cake and ice cream for literally ANY conceivable reason at my office. Government employees will look for ANY excuse to have cake, if you have cake you can legitimately sham an entire day away preparing for cake.

The first thing I noticed was that even though I was 17 minutes late due to a traffic jam (called in advance to let them know), the bride, her fiancee and his mother were all sitting around, drinking coffee and smiling. It just made the whole night fantastic given the circumstances. I could have been dealing with a disaster, but they were so friendly.

And the funny thing was, the fiancee and his mother were both really shy, but the bride was allllll business. Makes my life easier, especially because she's a photography enthusiast. She's got all sorts of ideas in her head.
