so any "law" to that?

too many kids messing up leaf piles. my neighbor just had 13-15 bags of leaves put out yesterday and i get home and almost everyone of them is ripped from some douche running them over.

i was thinking maybe a log because thats more natural than having a cinder block in a pile of leaves.

and no, i never stooped down to the level of ripping open bags or even driving through piles to scatter them all over the street. but i did run along the edge of them when i was much younger.

Better solution: Landmines.

What do you mean "run them over" as in kids ripping the bags up to play in the leaves, or older kids driving over them in cars?

Also, I don't know if its illegal, but I could see how you'd be liable if some kid jumped in and busted his head open on your bag of leaves.

That seems kind of mean and curmudgeon-y. You should try putting a sign up first or something.

go for it

somewhat related: i had a friend who told me about how his brother saw a garbage bag sitting in the middle of a road. his brother decided to run over it with his car. turns out there was an anvil it in. messed his car up pretty good, but it taught him a valuable lesson

I ALWAYS avoid bags in the road. You never know if someone was being mean or accidentally threw out a bag of nails, glass, kittens, or whatever else that you would not be so happy to run over.

yeah, kids would run over them.

we dont have any little kids around the neighborhood that would play in leaves, so im not reall worried about them busting a head. plus if i throw logs in there im sure its not going to bust a kids head open unles they dive in head first.

purposeful boobytrap, but still, its leaves and logs they go together when you clear out your yard right?

i was thinking about putting a sign first, so im not laible in any way. even if someone "accidentally" drives through

my one of my grandmother's brothers was a delivery truck driver back in the day, well there was a box in the middle of the road and he thought about hitting it....decided not to and it was a good decision, there was a kid inside the box. his friends told him to do it or something like that

better yet...just put a sign up and take a picture and then never put a sign there

then if something bad happens you can show them the pic

Wow, what a dumb kid.

I don't think I would have done that as a kid.

when i worked lowe's delivery in morehead we were coming across the big atlantic beach bridge (i think that's what its called) and there was a big box in the middle of the road. i told the driver he should run over it, but he said it might have a TV or something in it and that had happened to a buddy of his.

good advice

put the bag of leaves over a fire hydrant..... make sure they attract plenty of attention when they do it, or cans of paint so it marks the car.

My old man uses giant rocks among other debris for just that reason under the piles at the curb (any legality issues), he says he could just say its part of yard waste and it could at least give the impression it wasnt intentional, even if the cop knew better.

I recommend putting several under the pile. Then removing them once the job is done.

whoa nigs, i mainly wanted to know the legality behind if and if anyone has done it.

for the past few years ive wanted to do that.

honeslty, if some high school punk runs over a pile of leaves and hits a nice log or debris, he isnt going to sit there and call the cops. even if he did. what will he tell the cops? i have a substation down the street from my house, and my family is on the good side of the law with the substation down the street, so i really dont think a highschooler would have much of a fight.

Just wait till after school gets out each day. No need to wait there while kids are at school.

well i know that, but i dont think kids would be doing it during the day, would they?

i once caught some kids trying to throw a cinder block at my mailbox.
i was in my driveway taking apart a motor when i saw a truck pull up and saw a kid with a cinder block above his head, then they said "oh shit" and sped off.

i hopped in my car and chased after them while they were tossing their blocks out the back. finally got their plates and called the cops.

police said they (the kids) were scared as can be and was certain they wouldnt do it again.

this was 5 or so years ago

Or during lunch. we used to hit them on the way back from lunch.

but now that i'm older, i've been forced to go into a pile of leaves before, not all the way but into the first 6-12 inches, so i'd be pissed if i hit something because i had to avoid a car.

^yeah, thats the smaller reason why im hesitant. a lot of nicer/older people in the hood, and they are the type that will pull over if there is a car parked on the curb. so im sure they will drive into leaves at any given moment.

Find out what kid messed up your leaves and then tie up their parents and put them under the pile so that they kill them when they do it again.

Thats some Saw shit right there.

my neighbor puts them on the street- it's a street that everyone parks on the side of the road, and he could easily put them up on the curb

while it sucks that they get hit, we have the sense enough to put ours on the curb (the trash company still takes them...)- i mean it sucks, but it's his own damn fault

Exactly. If I had to drift into a pile of leaves to avoid something else and some jerk had put a cinder block in it I would probably thow it through his living room window. The curb is there for traffic reasons, not for a temporary dump.
