On my old laptop I could change the file extenion on a file (band-song.cda to band-song.wma for instance)

anyways, on my new laptop i cant figure out how to be able to do it, the files just show up as band-song without showing the file extension

start > control panel > folder options > view > hide extensions for known filetypes

holy shit, a tech talk thread that gave an answer for the first response and didn't need 40 replies of argument or "if you don't know how to display the extensions, you're obviously too dumb to need to be able to see them"-type of bullshit

astounding.
