http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/816673.htmli can't specifically remember ever reading anything by Edward G. Robinson III, Staff Writer -- but he's a douchebag and a moroni'm glad herb is doing well and everyone loves him but the tone of the article makes state fans sound like giant assholes who never gave him a chance
12/7/2007 9:08:23 AM
but we didn't give him a chance . . . we only gave him 10 years to be something other than mediocre
12/7/2007 9:19:23 AM
i lol'd at those silly yellow shirts. quite clever, but..the beaker masks will make national headlines if lots are made for the carolina game.
12/7/2007 9:26:22 AM
that seems like the lamest idea of all time

HOORAY! another opportunity for a pro/anti Herb argument, there really weren't enough of these when he was here.

i guess i can see that side of itto me though it sounded like the writer was implying state fans were incapable of appreciating the greatness that is herb sendekand i didn't intend this thread to be knock on herb -- i did and still do support the guy, but i think everything worked out best for everyone involvedand that definitely isn't the vibe i got from edward g. robinson
12/7/2007 10:50:41 AM
I didn't think the tone was derogatory towards State. I thought it was just about how it's different, some of which is Herb's fault. The part about campus visibility. I only saw Herb on campus THREE times in 6 years. Twice were when I went to welcome back the team. The other was when he was leaving the Case building.

It's great to see Herb overcoming his own mediocrity. Now if N&O's sports writers could just do the same thing...
12/7/2007 11:57:49 AM
Herb is an intelligent person.NC State fans are not intelligent.I think this country is proved, twice, that unintelligent people prefer not to be led by intelligent ones.
12/7/2007 12:16:40 PM
i'd take a bunch of athletes that can jump out of the gym over intelligent archie millers all day
12/7/2007 12:22:54 PM
^Yeah that is why Duke/UNC are beating the Clemsons/FSUs. And who recruited Cam Bennerman and Courtney Fells BTW?[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 12:31 PM. Reason : Cam/Fells jump out of the damn building]
12/7/2007 12:25:40 PM
yeah cause UNC never has any athletesthe problem wasnt Bennerman and Fells...it was not enough Bennermans and Fells's
12/7/2007 12:34:47 PM
Name one player on the current UNC team that can jump like Cam Ben or Fells. Throw Duke in there too and on those two teams you have exactly one guy that can jump out of the buidling and that is Gerald Henderson. I hate when Herb is brought up because I always defend him.....but good to see his new school is appreciative. You ever stop and thing maybe that is the reason he didn't communicate with our fans? When people constantly complain about you, would you be nice back?

^^i was never a herb hater when he was herebut if you're seriously trying to tell me that UNC and Duke dont always have good athletes you're insane
12/7/2007 12:46:10 PM
i was always a strong herb supporter until the day he leftthat day the team had a party to celebrate him leavingthat said a lot to mei still hope the best for him and hope he does well out there[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 12:54 PM. Reason : he]
12/7/2007 12:54:32 PM
Well the odd thing about herb is that his atheletes were dumb too.Marcus Melvin and Scooter Sherril?Gavin Grant?...yea

i'm staying out of this thread

except for the post to let us know you're staying out, of course.
12/7/2007 1:57:02 PM
what is the worst conference record NC State has EVER had in basketball? just saying cause Herb went 1-15 last year and I'm wondering if historically we've ever finished that poorly
12/7/2007 2:10:48 PM
2-14 under robinson in 92/93.
12/7/2007 2:14:27 PM
wow thats pretty much just as badspeaking of those tshirts, they shouldve used this picture
12/7/2007 2:16:29 PM
I  herb shirts were cooler
12/7/2007 4:24:31 PM
12/7/2007 4:26:00 PM
oh word...i think maybe they started 1-15 last year in conference play?
12/7/2007 4:45:30 PM
wat
12/8/2007 9:18:44 PM
you think he will us a 2nd chance?
12/8/2007 10:39:45 PM
6-2 with losses to Illinois in Maui (season opener) and to Nebraska in the PAC10/Big12 Challengewins aren't too impressive, aside from the margin of victory -- nearly 30ppgthe true test is versus #21 Xavier next Saturday at 4pm ET on FSNwin that and they'll get top-25 recognition
