Saw this on the news tonight, and verified the information by going to the Washington Redskins website. The Redskins are setting up a trust fund for the daughter of the murdered football player Sean Taylor. Sales of his merchandise will go into that trust fund for this child born out of wedlock to Mr. Taylor and his girlfriend.

Now, it's a terrible thing that the man was murdered, and this child, just like all of us, certainly had no control over how she came into the world. But this child getting a trust fund with money from us "common folk" is not on my list of charitable donations, and I hope it isn't on your list either.

This man made more money than I will ever make, and I would assume more than you will make as well. Why should any Washington Redskins fan, or any sports fan for that matter, feel like they should make some type of donation to benefit his child? I am sure this child will have the opportunity to be taken care of financially without $ .01 from us "regular" people.

I have a much better idea. There are indeed thousands of others this season that need your financial support. People like my 26 year old friend Tanya, who in October found out she has level 4 Hodgkin's Lymphomia cancer, and just spent a week in the hospital dealing with a collapsed lung. There are the families with someone serving our country in Iraq or Afghanistan, leaving a spouse or grandparent dealing with the care and financial needs of trying to maintain a household. We still have many people along the Gulf Coast still suffering from the devastation Hurricane Katrina caused a few years ago. Your local food shelter, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Battered Wives Shelter, etc. all are in need for funding.

So help someone that really needs help this year. Donate to a worthy cause, not some murdered football player's kid.

just to present the other side.....they could have a lot of debt resulting from assuming that they would receive a certain income for x amount of years.....

I'm sure his agent was smart enough to make sure that his life insurance was excellent.

and that's our problem why?

donations for someone that accrued debt from floundering their earnings for a lavish lifestyle and leaving nothing for their dependents is not what i consider a respectable charity.

did he and his sugarmomma do that? i dont know. but i completely agree with whats been said here

Can we really believe the little girl is the only one benefiting from this trust fund? There are plenty of single mom's out there raising their children without million dollar trust funds.
