Perhaps it is a pinched nerve, but if I sit for long periods of time my lower back starts hurting. Anyone else?

A pinched nerve would manifest itself in your crotch, hammstring, calf, tingly toes, etc. What kinda chair do you have? Do you work out, stretch, etc?

They make chairs that are ergonomically designed or some such to prevent this condition:http://tinyurl.com/283cc4[Edited on December 5, 2007 at 10:31 PM. Reason : adsf]

this may seem out there, but... i have heard that sitting down for long periods of time with a wallet in your back pocket can result in lower back pain.

Ive heard that too. My chiropracter said to NOT sit on my wallet because its bad for your back.

I'd take breaks from studying every single hour for about ten minutes. Got me through the longest nights back in college. Even if I was on a roll, I'd force myself to stand up, walk around, clear my mind and do some stretching excercises. After about six hours it loses its effectivity, but it'll get you to that point flawlessly.
