this is just speculation, but Willis is a guy that would fit well in the closer's role. he's got that fiery mentality that you love in a closer. if Jones struggles, maybe put him there? much like the Phillies did with Brett Myers this year
12/4/2007 6:49:51 PM
that's not happening
12/4/2007 6:50:39 PM
we have a couple of minor league guys being groomed for thatwith zumaya hurt[Edited on December 4, 2007 at 6:54 PM. Reason : .]
12/4/2007 6:53:53 PM
fuck, didnt see this coming
12/4/2007 6:54:31 PM
That is a great trade for the Tigers and should put them right back in the thick of it if those two perform.
12/4/2007 7:14:07 PM
Right now it's the Tigers and Red Sox about ten levels above the rest of MLB... well that is, if the reports are true and Santana to Boston is a done deal..The best lineup in baseball in Detroit versus the best pitching staff in baseball (one of the best in the past quarter century IMO).
12/4/2007 7:15:39 PM
I will tell you what....if the redsox pay the going price for cc no redsox can ever talk about Yankee spending again. They spent more in the last off season than any team....and CC is looking for 25 mil a year....that is ridiculous money. But if they do get him they will be on paper the best team in baseball bar none.....
12/4/2007 7:27:35 PM
who??? hahah
12/4/2007 8:11:03 PM
just contract the marlins already...their front office is a bunch of fuck ups
12/4/2007 8:40:35 PM
if you are referring to CC Sabathia, he isnt going anywhere.CC's contract ends in 2008 and Shapiro has said that there will be an extension offer on the table for him before spring training, plus the Indians were about $16 million under their budget last year. Shapiro is too smart of a GM to let the reigning Cy Young winner get away.I know that money talks, but I dont think CC will go anywhere
12/4/2007 8:42:29 PM
i think he was talking about santanawhich sounds kind of like sabathia if you're dumb
12/4/2007 8:44:10 PM
CC....santana....ok made a mistake....clearly most people know what I meant. In any case...Ernie you remind me of a nit picking little bitch. Are you a really a girl...cause you act like one ?
12/4/2007 9:14:19 PM
is it really "nit picking" when i call you out on not knowing the difference between cc sabathia and johan santana?
12/4/2007 9:29:24 PM
12/4/2007 9:38:36 PM
Crazy pickup.

Ernie - well if you must know...my brother who is a Indians fan and I were just on the phone, and I had CC on my brain as I am still wondering how Beckett didn't win the Cy Young award and my brother and I were arguing over that.... so when my brother and I got off the phone I still had that fat POS CC on my mind and wala....typed CC instead of Santana....Trust me I know the difference...and I don't want the Yankees to pay him 25 mil a season was my point. They need to nurture what they have...especially now that Andy is locked up. whatever
12/4/2007 9:59:41 PM
it took you 45 minutes to come up with that?
12/4/2007 10:07:12 PM
no my brother called back and to remind me what he wanted for Christmas....
12/4/2007 10:13:54 PM
12/4/2007 10:15:36 PM
i refuse to argue with someone thinks "wala" is a word
12/4/2007 10:21:00 PM
Ok but at least I'm not a Mets fan.....
12/4/2007 10:33:38 PM
what
12/4/2007 10:44:45 PM
i dont even know whats going on anymore
12/4/2007 11:10:39 PM
^ that the Tigers are now a legitimate threat to win the AL. Which means they can win the Series by default. Good pick up D-riot. Leyland is going to have a handful of egos in the clubhouse, but he will get it done, and I hope the best for that town.
12/5/2007 10:54:10 AM
12/5/2007 10:59:13 AM
That is what I was saying in my original msg....the Tigers have leaped ahead of everyone in the AL with the exception of the Red Sox....but like I also said before willis and Cabrera will have to perform....
12/5/2007 12:53:00 PM
12/5/2007 3:03:48 PM
lots of talk on the Packman show today about the possibility of baseball in the Carolinas...assuming it was the Marlins moving to Charlotte...well they just got a lot less interesting by losing their 2 biggest name players
12/5/2007 4:10:17 PM
Yeah, I read that article and I know about the payroll. There's no question the Marlins have shady ownership but it's a far different level than the owner on Major League (and yes, I know you didn't mean it literally). They are unloading good players, yes, but are getting very good players in return. Hanley Ramirez was the 2006 Rookie of the Year, Anibal Sanchez threw a no-hitter, Uggla/Willingham/Jacobs are all supposed to become good players. Andrew Miller is supposedly the next big time pitching badass.
12/5/2007 5:37:18 PM
Say what you will, the general manager of the Marlins is phenomenal.
12/5/2007 6:47:46 PM
so was the former onebtw they are saying the tigers are in talks to sign eric gagne

12/5/2007 10:33:12 PM
as a marlins fan, i might as well start rooting for the tigers. they seem to be team that most values the marlins stars (lowell and beckett excluded)
12/5/2007 10:49:27 PM

12/5/2007 10:56:23 PM
