to Charlotte or something. because this is ridiculous..and while your at it, please never host another ACC bball tourney in Florida eitherdammit...trying to get this pic to workanyways, my point is that the stadium was embarassingly empty on saturday. at 16-16 in the 3rd of the championship it looked like the end of the NCST Maryland game in there[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 9:18 PM. I agree
12/2/2007 9:13:42 PM
you've got your wish as far as the tournament goes until 2012 (13-15 has the option to be moved) at least2008 - Charlotte, N.C.2009 - Atlanta, Ga.2010 - Greensboro, N.C.2011 - Greensboro, N.C.2012 - Atlanta, Ga.2013 - Greensboro, N.C.2014 - Greensboro, N.C.2015 - Greensboro, N.C.
12/2/2007 9:16:49 PM
we should've never let BC in
12/2/2007 9:20:53 PM
How many fans did VT bring?
12/2/2007 9:32:30 PM
There was talk about moving the championship game to a more central location long before this year's championship game. Attendance was dreadful last year, and having it at the same location of the Gator Bowl doesn't help either.Charlotte/BOA Stadium has been talked about as the most likely location, as the Georgia Dome already has the SEC Championship. There may be some talk about FedEx Field, but I'm pretty confident we will see the ACC Championship in Charlotte. Of course, the year they move it may end up being the year that Miami plays FSU in the ACC Championship.
12/2/2007 9:39:26 PM
wasn't this brought up and shot down after last year's game?i seem to remember an extension being signed with the alltell stadium folks -- or whatever it's called noweither way, if teams like GT, wake, and BC keep making itm they'll never sell out -- no matter where the game is played[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 9:44 PM. 12/2/2007 9:42:38 PM
kick bc out of the conference and move the championship game.
12/2/2007 9:49:48 PM
kick out BC, then who's are 12th?and it made no sense to place the Championship game in Jacksonville to begin with. its close to 1 ACC school, FSU, and drivable for GT fan. Other than that how did that ever make sense?BOA Stadium is the only logical neutral site. Like Greensboro was for the Tournament.
12/2/2007 10:03:27 PM
add any public school on the east coast that actually has fans.
12/2/2007 10:04:43 PM
i'd be happy if BC was kicked outthen we wouldn't need a stupid fucking championship game
12/2/2007 10:04:46 PM
^^^ The only teams that can realistically replace BC based on geography are: -South Florida (...maybe, although with a little work they could compete for the Big East every year, they could take the position that Miami gave up; don't think Florida State or Miami would allow them in)-Central Florida (ditto, cannot see Florida State or Miami allowing them in)-Navy (would they give up independent status?)-East Carolina (North Carolina and NC State would never allow it)-West Virginia (my #1 pick, would they leave the Big East?)We're kind of in a bad part of the country cause there aren't a lot of universities nearby that aren't already in the SEC or ACC.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:10 PM. ^^ that works too. i mean after this year a title game can just screw your conference more than anything.^^^ USF ECU WVU? any other acronym? [Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:11 PM. 12/2/2007 10:14:08 PM
^^^ navy wouldn't be better in any way than bc. plus as soon as they lose paul johnson they'll go back to being a regular service academy.wvu is really the best choice, but you have to get them to leave the big east and be okay with being associated with wvu.granted, none of this is happening regardless of what i say.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:14 PM. 12/2/2007 10:14:14 PM
12/2/2007 10:16:03 PM
The ACC isn't going to add a school that is not academically on par with the other schools in the conference (I'm looking at you, USF, UCF, and ECU), or one that isn't somewhat competitive in all major sports (that rules out Navy).

should've gotten syracuse[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:20 PM. Reason : COLLEGE FOOTBALL WAS BORN AT RUTGERS]
12/2/2007 10:20:38 PM
^ i have no beef w/ syracuse, but that's really too far north, AND you'd have to play in a dome, which is DO NOT WANT.they'd still be better than bc, though.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:21 PM. Reason : .]
12/2/2007 10:21:06 PM
you can have South Carolina. We'll take GT
12/2/2007 10:22:07 PM
syracuse is no further north than bostonit's actually probably closer to raleigh
12/2/2007 10:23:11 PM
you can have maryland, we'll take vanderbilt
^^ boston is also too far north.
12/2/2007 10:24:46 PM
12/2/2007 10:25:43 PM
^^^ maryland wouldnt fit into the SEC at all... Clemson and GT are the logical choices[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:26 PM. Reason : d]
12/2/2007 10:26:18 PM
^ Georgia would never allow Georgia Tech to join and South Carolina would never allow Clemson to join.
12/2/2007 10:29:02 PM
12/2/2007 10:29:16 PM
^^ it would be getting rid of South Carolina...South Carolina and Vandy to the ACCClemson and GT to the SEC
12/2/2007 10:30:00 PM
we shouldnt even be talking about dropping and adding. we should just focus on adding 2 more to cancel out BC. super-conference ftw!
12/2/2007 10:30:16 PM
^^ do not want.well, penn state's been mediocre for a while, save two seasons ago. they'll probably be in and out of solid seasons for years to come though.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 10:32 PM. Reason : until the world gets too fucked to bother playing football anymore, anyway.]
12/2/2007 10:30:28 PM
12/2/2007 10:32:36 PM
just to clarify, given the choice between 'cuse and bc, i'd take syracuse in a heartbeat.
12/2/2007 10:35:09 PM
i have a great idealet's create a time machine and go back to 2003, before the ACC was fucked by expansionthat should solve all these problems
12/2/2007 10:35:24 PM
i'm down
12/2/2007 10:36:02 PM
^^That works, or we could just get Philip Rivers lifetime eligibility. We wouldn't need an offensive coordinator and Amato could just handle defense.
12/2/2007 10:37:51 PM
^^^ i still want vt, though.
12/2/2007 10:39:16 PM
^ Oddly enough, the ACC originally didn't. (I always thought that was cause of UVa and they didn't want them in. Then when the plan got in public out the governor forced their hand.)
12/2/2007 10:45:37 PM
^ anyone really remember that shit? it was insane how we went from Cuse and Miami to BC and VT.marko where's that clown car picture of yours with ACC mascots?
12/2/2007 10:48:05 PM
12/2/2007 10:50:25 PM
No the original plan was BC, Miami, and Syracuse. The expansion needed 7 of 9 votes, and Dook and UNC made it clear they would not vote for anything. UVA, under pressure from the state legislature leveraged their position as the swing vote into getting VT in.I think the reason we ended up with BC instead of Syracuse had to do with Boeheim publicly lobbying strongly against it, and Miami wanting BC but am not sure on that.
12/2/2007 10:57:02 PM
see even i forgot. and i was all for this expansion stuff when it started.why wouldn't we want VT in the first place? was Cuse for basketball, right? its a shame Mary Ann never got Notre Dame in...
12/2/2007 11:04:15 PM
12/2/2007 11:05:27 PM
The ACC was very worried about their TV contract at the time. VT wasn't originally included because it didn't add a TV market. The logic went: Miami added Miami (and other FL markets, with 2/3 main schools ACC), BC added the Boston market, Syracuse the NYC market. If it wasn't for ND's Gator Bowl season, we would have had a good shot at them (their TV contract was up for negotiation that year, and they were in serious trouble until their "Return to Glory". ND's independent status is dependent on two things: a good football TV contract, and the Big East allowing them to participate in the conference without joining for football. Also VT wasn't particularly competitive in basketball prior to joining the ACC (sorry Dell Curry and Ace Custis).[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 11:13 PM. Reason : .]
12/2/2007 11:12:05 PM
that's some shitty logic on the acc's part. i don't know any numbers on the money or anything, but vt was a great addition.
12/2/2007 11:13:39 PM
attendance is listed as 53,212 . . . that must be just in tickets sold, cause there surely aren't that many people there considering the capacity is around 75,000 and that is not close to 2/3 full
12/2/2007 11:20:49 PM
i wonder if that counts the tickets they gave to bc, which bc did not sell.
12/2/2007 11:22:54 PM
I would love it if the ACC added WVU. I thought they should have added them over BC to begin with.
12/2/2007 11:26:32 PM
You know I was kidding about ND right mark? I recall the TV time now as a reason for expanding in the new markets. It made sense in a straight up numbers game, but we should have based it on something else. VT wasn't strong in basketball you're right, but Cuse wasn't exactly a football powerhouse. I think they just came off a bowl win or two tho correct? so i guess that swayed opinions.
