the only new movies i've seen this year are borat, spiderman 3, and transformers...spiderman 3 wasnt that great, borat was a lot less funny than i figured it would be, and transformers was decent

No Country for Old Menwasn't borat 2006?[Edited on December 1, 2007 at 9:32 PM. Reason : fhds]

my favorite move this year has been darjeeling limited. i haven't seen as many movies this year as i normally do and i've yet to no country for old men.
12/1/2007 9:33:21 PM
The Darjeeling Limited, Superbad, Knocked Up, Once, and No Country for Old Men are all towards the top of my list. I really haven't seen as much as I should, and I'm really looking forward to Margot at the Wedding and Juno before the year's over. Sunshine is almost surely my #1, although it's hard to compare it to Superbad.I know there's some mainstream shit I'm not remembering, though...ARG.I hereby nominate Eagle vs. Shark as the most disappointing movie of the year, and The Number 23 as the worst movie of the year (out of what I've seen). Transformers was the best popcorn flick, which only beats The Bourne Ultimatum because it didn't feature 2 hours of steadycam that made me want to vomit. This is just a draft, I'm sure I'll have a for serious list once I've seen more stuff / been reminded of the shit I forgot.
12/1/2007 11:02:49 PM
Pan's Labyrinth. Wide release was in Jan
12/1/2007 11:20:48 PM
TOTALLY doesn't count.
12/1/2007 11:32:19 PM
I've really liked The Bourne Ultimatum and No Country for Old Men the best so far.I'm also really looking forward to There Will Be Blood .
12/1/2007 11:36:28 PM
Transformers wasn't even good as a popcorn movie. I hate hate hated it, and I even came in with low expectations.Same for Live Free or Die Hard.
12/1/2007 11:36:40 PM
Yeah, I'm not even gonna try and argue in defense of it.All I got is "OMG, TEHSPLOSIONS!!1ONE" But I enjoyed it. I have a boner for Shia LeBouf.
12/1/2007 11:48:33 PM
transformers wasn't even the best popcorn movie starring shia lebouf this yeartransformers was definitely the best nostalgia movie thoughsuperbad ftwdid anybody see Death at a Funeral? thats up there for mewhy isn't anyone mentioning 300?

Eastern Promises was alright. Definitely didn't need that coda at the end.

In no particular order, the movies I saw and enjoyed:300No Country for Old MenSuperbadBourne UltimatumReign Over MeOcean's 13Movies I have heard are very good that I intend to see:Darjeeling Limited3:10 to YumaAmerican GangsterOther comments:Personally, I don't think Knocked Up really belongs on a list of greatest movies for the year. I'm probably just comparing it to Superbad, though, which was at least x7 funnier (based on the amount of funny it brought to myself and those around me).[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 1:19 AM. Superbad was alot better than knocked up.Tromboner, Reign over me? Is that the sandler movie? I didnt care for that one.Bourne was really good.Spiderman was a letdown. IMO
12/2/2007 1:07:28 AM
12/2/2007 1:08:19 AM
^^I was considering putting a footnote on Reign about how some people might not love it quite so much. Personally I thought it was excellent. And I was surprised with how well Sandler did playing a serious role. And I agree that Spiderman was a complete disappointment. The minimal action in the movie does not make up for the dance scene... not to mention the fact that it was such a long movie but seemed to have less action than either of the first two.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 1:10 AM. I guess you missed it, Crossroads played it for about 3 or 4 weeks I believe. I thought it was excellent.
12/2/2007 1:11:26 AM
^i don't live in north carolinado you remember what 3 or 4 weeks?i don't remember ever hearing a release date or anythingof course my schedule has been incredibly hectic since august...
12/2/2007 1:13:31 AM
^^I thought the movie was well acted, just not very good. IMOSpiderman 3 was almost as disappointing as the matrix sequels.I really enjoyed Oceans' 13
12/2/2007 1:14:43 AM
^ohh, it was very limited. I wanna say it came out like mid october and ran til end of october, I think.Pretty much the same time Gone Baby Gone did...
12/2/2007 1:16:50 AM
wtfthis movie had a high point of distribution of 301 screensand never made a million dollars in a single weekendand has only grossed 3 million dollars in the USseriouslycan someone explain why?it has one of the biggest movie stars of this generation, and its about a well-known character from our history...
12/2/2007 1:16:54 AM
Oh, holy shit, how did I forget about that movie?Adding Ocean's 13 to my previous post. And, to ^... It's because it lacked hype. The first time I heard about it was on this board, and not once did I see any preview on TV. People aren't going to get out and see a movie if they don't know it exists.[Edited on December 2, 2007 at 1:21 AM. Reason : .]

12/2/2007 1:29:04 AM
damn i've seen 300 in a couple of posts...maybe i have to see it in the theater or something but i seriously only could get through about the first 51 minutes on my laptop before i was like this is not worth my time
12/2/2007 1:50:10 AM
No point in watching 300 if you're just on a laptop... unless its huge with HD powahz or something. At the very least it should be seen on a big screen plasma.
12/2/2007 2:08:35 AM
jon, when are you guys getting juno?

Hot Fuzz was the first movie this year that didn't disappoint me. When did Children of Men come out?
12/2/2007 2:38:38 PM
300 was an outstanding movie, I was expecting a movie with little to no plot and shit load of action and it lived up to my expectations.
