is beer a suitable substitute to pour on an open wound when rubbing alcohol or a high-proof liquor isn't available? i'm thinking no, because of the yeast. and yes, this is a serious question.

I'd worry more about that stroke you've apparently suffered. [Edited on November 30, 2007 at 1:57 PM. Reason : ]

huh?
11/30/2007 1:59:13 PM
well technically if its an open wound you arent suppose to put rubbing alcohol on it.if its a scrape then sure.but you are better off using brake fluid. it will stop the bleeding.
how open are we talking about?
11/30/2007 2:02:43 PM
DONT WASTE BEER!
11/30/2007 2:03:23 PM
Turn your oven on, put a metal spatula in the oven, bake until scalding, put on wound, and cauterize!

I would just put some neosporin on the wound and bandage if it possible. But you probably won't be able to bandage it so as long as it's not bleeding then just use the antibiotic ointment.
11/30/2007 2:14:30 PM
^^^ If you're not going directly to emergency medical treatment, you must clean the wound before you cauterize it. Otherwise, you seal in contaminants.

blasian michael vick?

possibly. my dog is 2-0. roommate's dog, the antagonizer, is 0-2.[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 2:30 PM. Reason : ]

11/30/2007 2:33:12 PM

11/30/2007 2:34:38 PM

for the love of god; a bottle of peroxide is $2 at most
11/30/2007 3:55:24 PM
i dont know about dogs but with humans i thought you had to be pretty careful about deeper cuts. neosporin/alcohol are usually not good for deeper wounds. you can clean it with a spray saline that you can get in the bandage section at the grocery/drug store. thats the best bet just to spray it out then tape the wound (if it really is a centimeter deep) and put a bandage over it. again, i dont know dogs, i just fix myself from time to time.
11/30/2007 11:20:55 PM
this sounds retarded
12/1/2007 7:13:13 AM
unless you're out in the middle of nowhere, there is no reason you have to go mcgyver and try to be a hero with beer
12/1/2007 7:35:35 AM
you shouldnt even be thinking about beer, even liquors.they arent even a strong alcohol. rubbing alcohol/peroxide is cheap like FykalJpn said.
12/1/2007 9:54:25 AM
Everclear, it's stronger than alcohol in the grocery store, unless they have a pharmacy.
12/1/2007 11:49:02 AM
vet?
12/1/2007 12:10:45 PM
yeah but everclear will clean the lacquer off of furniture so i doubt pouring it over an open wound would have an awesome outcome.
12/1/2007 7:04:12 PM
peroxide, yo
12/1/2007 7:09:13 PM
k, folks, chill out. one of my other roommates suggested the beer. i was just curious. i didn't take my dog to the vet (unnecessary considering how minor the wounds are), but i cleaned/fixed her up well enough. she's as happy as can be.my roommate's dog is still fucked up and actually probably should go to the vet, but she's apparently doesn't have the money. the wounds aren't life threatening though. the dog is just obviously in discomfort. if her dog wasn't such an antagonizing cunt bitch, i would loan my roommate money. oh well.
12/1/2007 9:57:08 PM
peroxide the wounds regularly and put some antibiotic on them...also, i think you can give dogs a pain killer but I forget which one...don't give them the wrong one or they'll die, so I'd check on that
12/1/2007 9:58:37 PM
many pharmacies keep everclear in stock. it's often cheaper and easier to obtain than other, less performing, equivalents.
12/1/2007 11:04:53 PM
thatandbeing a pharmacist is boring, soulless, depressing work that requires a few shots to get throughand taking pills would cut into the profit margin
12/1/2007 11:43:42 PM
just put gunpowder in the wound and then light it to cauterize, like Rambo
12/2/2007 1:33:37 AM
^^^Just peroxide the wound once, then neosporin. Continuing to peroxide the wound will hinder the healing process. Just scrub with soap and water if you need to.
12/2/2007 8:11:54 AM
brake fluid to stop the bleeding?ARE YOU SERIOUS?
12/2/2007 4:15:22 PM
I don't think thats the best idea...warm soapy water is better, if you really need to flush it out.
12/2/2007 4:33:46 PM
ok, i was looking for that anticoagulant powder stuff the military sometimes but found this instead:http://www.licp.org/ear_tipping_photos.htmlWhy the hell would you do that???
