I've now had two people contact me about Firefox crashing at launch on XP computers. Both had not recently installed extra plugins or anything like that. This leads me to think that it could be Windows Updates. Has anyone else had any problems with this? I might also add that they both tried reinstalling Firefox, restarting, etc.

ff will crash every so often, but i think it has to do with the websites that i visit. ask whoever it is to tell you what websites that they are visiting, or ask them does the crash happen only with certain webpages open. also, ask if they have adblock installed. i have a hunch this may have something to do with the random, but not so often, crashes.

i've had it crash on occasion but very very infrequently...i just chalked it up as some conflict with another program at the time...never happens often enough to warrant further research on my part

I don't use Firefox very often but use Thunderbird a lot. The last few versions (since around 2.0.0.7) have crashed somewhat often.

they're both running latest versions. friend i talked to today couldnt get the program to run, so it's not an issue of sites i don't think. said he hasn't had this problem before.and Shaggy: unless you're using Safari on OS X... Firefox is your best bet. nice contribution though
